Blogger of the week plus 10 other must-reads!

Blogger of the Week returns with a blogger who is relatively new on the scene but has definitely made an impression.

She describes herself thus:

I am a deeply lost New Mexican in London, and a former staffer at The Economist turned full time Soup Developer to the Boss and the Colleague. I am a lapsed Lutheran/die-hard Garrison Keillor fan, an unashamed caffiene addict, a lover of schlocky kids movies and an avid consumer of junk food. I have a childish tendancy towards bursts of activity and long desolate stretches of disengagement.

What a way with words! I give you Manana Mama aka Rachel Faith. Our fair Manana Mama was recently felled by the dreaded lurgy and has some excellent advice on over-the-counter “medicine” for us all. She is right…there just are no sick days when you’re doing this job!

I know you’ll really enjoy reading about the bane of Rachel’s existence, the Creepy Dog. Don’t we all secretly despise some of our children’s most loved toys? Or not so secretly in Rachel’s case!

I find Rachel’s writing witty, sarcastic and highly entertaining. She has me chuckling over my laptop and wishing I could be quite as clever.

Now, I know being in the UK and relatively close in proximity to Spain, we all should readily be able to pronounce Manana Mama’s name but should you ever wonder exactly how it should sound, Rachel gives you all the phonetic help you’ll need with her infectious post, Manamanamanamanamanamana. You’ll be humming it for days. I was. Don’t blame me though, blame Rachel!

Please add Manana Mama to your reader and give her the BMB welcome she deserves! Also, please follow Rachel on Twitter, @mananatomorrow, as she’s learning all about the thrills of social media.

For the 10 Must-Reads of the Week I’d like to introduce you to some of the newest BMB members. Again, please have a visit and give them a warm welcome to our lovely community!

Happy Reading!

Fab choice Karin, Mañana Mama is definitely one of my favourite blogs at the moment. She has an amazing way of writing that gives even the smallest things a whimsical, fairytale hilariousness. It's such a skill, I really think her blog is special. I love it. Must check out the others (when I've finished reading and commenting on all the blogs I already follow, hahaha!)

Wow, thanks Karin, what kind words! I feel more chuffed than Steve Martin in 'The Jerk' when he discovers his name in phone book lights. But the girls are helping to keep me grounded - mostly by mocking me as I attempt to type with one hanging off each leg...and by chewing on the keyboard. I've actually just returned from the NCT Nearly New Sale, where I've abandoned the very last of Creepy Dogs battery-operated accomplices (an awful talking phone and a singing train). Got garlic over the doorways to prevent re-plastification, and am feeling hopeful that the worse of my awful toy junk days are passed...not sure what I'll write about now though...will have to research a new nemesis...any ideas? Thanks again, off to read the 10 must-reads! ~M
