Adoption & Fostering Round-up: Positivity, anxiety chewers & FAS

Welcome all to our March BritMums round up of adoption and fostering blogs. Sarah here this month bringing you the crème del la crème of adoption and fostering blogging. Let’s start with the Weekly Adoption Shout Out top three, which Vicki and I do every month on The Adoption Social.

This post from 2 New Girls feels full of positivity and moving forward, it makes me feel hopeful. I almost wish I had a hall ceiling to paint too.

I have nothing to say about this post from Meandminimees – just…read it.

Chewing is a big issue in my house and we’re halfway through a series of sensory therapy sessions, so this particular post from Tooting Mama caught my eye. Are your children anxiety chewers too?

 

So the #WASO Top 3 appears on our website The Adoption Social, every month along with the links to all the other amazing adoption blogs which link up to #WASO.

It’s been great to discover new blogs recently and this one from over the pond, A Coffee Coloured Sofa, is a favourite. I love the balance of adoption parenting honesty, which we find in this post, My Worst Parenting Mistake and the amusing tale of New Pyjamas you find in my Top 3 (above).

I also found this collection of Fostering blogs on Foster2Forever, also from across the pond. This particular post about how a child’s body remembers trauma is fascinatingly familiar and so important to know.

Trauma has for a long time been turning this family upside down and inside out. I love this mum for her continuing strength and determination to survive the hardest of times, so much heartache.

In this post about a child with FAS (Foetal Alcohol Syndrome), mum is motivating herself to stay positive. It’s about remembering that the tiniest of steps are to be celebrated.  

And whilst we are on celebrations Whoop Whoop to the blog, The Living Worlds Edge, for posting their 100^th blog post.

The next post is from a site where a collection of UK based Foster Carers blog. Life Story Work is always such a huge topic of discussion in Fostering and Adoption. I think many can identify with the struggles this foster carer has around the subject.

Finally a little fun, the blog, We are Family, have a new blogger on the block. He’s furry and has four legs, yes he’s a family dog who is recalling the changes that have gone on in his home, since the little ones came along.
