Cornwall is a great place to go on holiday with a toddler: there are amazing beaches and loads of toddler friendly days out – whatever the weather! These are my top tips on the best things to do with a toddler in Cornwall.

Cornwall has more than its fair share of family friendly beaches and rockpools which toddlers will love exploring. One of the best ones for children is Polkerris Beach near St Austell which has a sheltered beach with a café and parking, and the very popular Sam’s On The Beach Restaurant. Another popular beach for families is Porthcurro beach in West Cornwall which has a little stream running down the side for toddlers to paddle in. Some good beaches for rockpooing including Castle Beach near Falmouth and Port Isaac Beach.

The Eden Project is a great day out for adults and children. Toddlers will love seeing the largest indoor rainforest in the world, taking a treetop walk on the Rainforest Canopy Walkway and going on the land train pulled by a tractor.

Lanhydrock is a fantastic family day out. As well as having loads of space to run around, there is an adventure playground which is perfect for toddlers. There are also loads of cycle trails including a special trail for families and beginners. This 1.5 mile trail is wide, well surfaced and is perfect for balance bikes, trailers and tagalongs. The café at Lanhydrock is worth a visit too!

There are loads of train rides in Cornwall, which toddlers will love. One of my favourites is the Lappa Valley Railway near Newquay which has a play area and boating lake included in the price of the ticket. Another popular day out on the railway is the Bodmin and Wenford Railway which is a steam train through 13 miles of the Cornish countryside.

You can’t come to Cornwall without sampling some of the amazing ice cream which they make and sell there!! Visit the famous Chapel Porth Café in St Agnes or Roskilly’s Farm in St Keverne to do some testing – all in the name of research of course!!

Cornwall is an excellent destination for kids of all ages. We love St Ives. Have never tried the Eden project before, thanks for the heads up - looks like an interesting place to take the kids!
