Make a new year’s resolution to lend the support of your blog to a good cause. Charity blogging is one powerful way to ensure your blog makes a difference.
Let’s look at some examples of bloggers who did just that during the traditional season of goodwill.
Liz shows us how we can jazz up some charity shop finds to make some exciting presents. By doing so, we help a good cause and give something very special to the recipient that involves that little touch of creativity. Liz wrote this post whilst supporting the Salvation Army’s Christmas campaign. Do check out Magpie Monday her regular Linky for bargain-hunters.
Jen highlighted how 90 000 woke up homeless at Christmas. She encourages people to support Shelter by buying or donating furniture. Her post shows how with a little creativity you can take a second-hand bargain and turn it into something rather wonderful.
I am now home-educating two of my children and finding that charity shops are great for finding affordable books and other educational resources. I am looking for ways to introduce my children to charity endeavour in the New Year.
I would like to get back to volunteering too and am thinking I might try and visit an older person who is isolated. I like the practical ideas for combatting loneliness highlighted by Mummy Never Sleeps. It’s a reminder that volunteering can transform the lives of both the volunteer and the person who is being helped.
I also found Frederica’s post inspirational as she invited an older person to spend Christmas with her. I really do believe so many of us could learn from what she gets out of voluntarily visiting an older person in the community.
Moving into 2015, will you take time out to help a good cause? You could fundraise, get involved in volunteering and blog to raise awareness of a charity.
Becky is going to stay sober for 90 days to raise money for the Alzheimers Society. Could you take on this challenge or lend your support via sponsorship?
Perhaps you could donate a blanket to Dettol’s campaign to help babies in need? Find out more about this on Gym Bunny’s blog.
Vicky writes about the need for more support for blind and partially sighted children and their families. You could tell the story of the difference a charity makes on your blog.
Could you highlight how a business and charity are working together? Natalie has a feature that shows such partnerships every week on her blog.
With a General Election on its way in 2015, now is a great time to get behind the charities that work on the issues that concern you most. Your blog gives you a powerful voice that you can use to help others.
Joining our Charity Connections group is a good starting point from a blogging point of view.

Have a Happy and Charitable New Year.

I have been doing this since 2013. It is a a great way to help raise awareness for campaigns especially for those who can't physically volunteer.

Hi Kate,
Thank you so much for including me in this, I'm so chuffed!
I think the post links to the wrong place though, it goes to a post where I'm spouting some tripe about how I'm going to be a wonderful person in the new year (I failed) rather than to the charity posts, which are here:

I hope you don't mind me mentioning it, I just don't want to bore anyone ;)
Thanks again for including me, I am delighted to find out that someone is reading my posts! :)

A lovely round up ... looking forward to checking some of the posts out.
How does the round up work? I would have loved to contribute my #ClearAPlate post (my 1st blog post too) to this.
Hopefully more charity posts from many bloggers in the new year.
