Arts & Culture Round-up: He’s behind you, oh no he isn’t!

Happy New Year to each and every one of you, I hope you all had a relaxing, fun filled Christmas and New Year, what an amazing Round-up I have for you to kickstart 2017!

This one is all about the Pantomimes and Christmas Shows, and there were certainly lots to include.

One of the signs that Christmas is on it’s way is seeing `The Snowman‘ on television, this year Chiswick Mum, GlobalMouse Travels and The Pigeon Pair and Me all went along to The Saddlers Wells Peacock Theatre in London to see it live. Bubba Blue and Me combined the Snowman with the Nutcracker in a concert at Coventry Cathedral, whilst Truly Madly Kids watched the Nutcracker on Ice as part of The Winter Wonderland.

Are We Nearly There Yet ?, Max & Mummy and Entertaining Elliot all went to see Aladdin at The Lighthouse, Poole, but he was obviously a busy man as Tired Mummy of Two watched him at St Helens Theatre Royal, Adventures in Homeschool saw him at The Opera House Manchester,  GlobalMouse Travels caught him at Bath Theatre Royal and Fashion Mommy reviewed him at Wolverhampton Grand, a very busy man this year!

Dick Whittington was watched by The Mum Diaries at Key Theatre, The Gingerbread House at The Compass Theatre and Me, My Life and The Tardis accompanied by several Brownies at the Marlowe Theatre!

Cinderella was also a busy lady this festive season Are We Nearly There Yet ? and The Life of Spicers saw her at Bournemouth Pavilion, and GlobalMouse Travels and Practically Perfect Mums watched the performance on Ice at Bristol Hippodrome with Torvill and Dean. Mum Friendly saw Cinderella at York Theatre Royal. Yorkshire Tots attended a Cinderella Show specifically for the younger audience with The Rainbow Factory Kids, Bubba Blue and Me saw a slightly different version at the Mill Arts Centre.

Disney Frozen on Ice was a popular choice this year, slightly away from the traditional pantomime, but very magical, read all about it from Chelsea Mamma, Dear Bear and Beany, Emmys Mummy and 3 Little Ladies and Me.

Read all about Robin Hood and Babes in The Wood from Pink Oddy at The Roses Thatre and Are We Nearly There Yet ? at the Mayflower.

I seem to be the only one who saw Beauty and The Beast this year, Eowyn and I had a lovely afternoon at the Marina Theatre, you can check out our thoughts over at Big Family Little Adventures, whilst Cardiff Mummy Says watched Peter Pan at New Theatre Cardiff featuring none other than `The Hoff’.

Hollybobbs as part of vlogmas went to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, check out her thoughts, A Strong Coffee To Go saw Sleeping Beauty at The Anvil.

An Organised Mess and Cardiff Mummy Says and Welsh Mummy Blogs all went to see The Borrowers at the Sherman Theatre, Pigeon Pair and Me and Not Just the 3 of Us went along to try out the Backyard Cinema, see what they both thought.

Cardiff Mummy Says also reviewed Mary Poppins at the Wales Millennium Centre, Christmas Carol at The Orbit Centre, The Emperors New Clothes, also reviewed by An Organised Mess.

This Mummy Loves tells us all about Beasty Baby at Lakeside Arts, a one hour show perfect for younger audience members, Snow White and The seven Dwarfs was seen by My Tunbridge Wells at the Assembly Hall Theatre. Rock and Roll Pussycat went to see Jack and The Beanstalk at the Gala Theatre, Durham.

Adventures of Adam tells us all about Thursford Christmas and Santas Winter Wonderland Snowdome, they both sound amazing.

If you are not too keen on a traditional pantomime, check out these alternative shows, Chelsea Mamma went to see Marvel Universe Live, Man vs Pink saw Kiki’s Delivery Service at the Southwark Playhouse, Family Friendly Working reviewed Adventures in Moominland at the Southbank Centre, Yorkshire Tots went to see The Witches at West Yorkshire Playhouse. or how about Stick Man Live reviewed by Mama Wilkos.

I hope you have enjoyed this bumper Christmas bundle of Art & Culture, don’t forget to tweet me at @bigfamilies with your posts for next month or email at bigfamilylittleadventures@gmail.com, next month we shall be looking at Arts, Culture & Heritage for the Spring.
