Adam Share blogs at Bacon Rolls to Plastic Dolls. He’s a father of three and he blogs about their life through a tired dad’s eyes. Here he tells us why he blogs.
I have been wondering lately why I blog. I mean, I have a real love for writing but I already have quite a lot on my plate with my 3 young daughters (1, 3 and 4).
If you add all the pressure and dramas that go hand-in-hand with raising a young family, and of course being surrounded by girls then you can imagine that that should be enough to keep anyone busy, but yet I still feel a desire to write.
Maybe it’s because I am the only male in my household. Even the dog is a girl. Maybe that’s why I feel the need to share. If I wanted to just relieve myself of the day-to-day tensions and worries, I could just chat to friends or I could write a diary to fulfill my urge to put pen to paper. But it must be more than that.
On top of the pressures of family, I am a stay-at-home working dad running 3 online businesses. So again I ask myself why I feel the need to burden myself with the further strain and anxiety of running a blog.
Do I write for the freebies or for money? Well, if I am honest then I have to say that they are a bonus but it isn’t the reason that I choose to write. I would write if there were no monetary gains.
I have been thinking that maybe it’s because it’s the perfect tool for unloading some of the day-to-day stresses that I endure. “Endure” is probably the wrong word to use; I love what I do and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Maybe “experience” is a better term. Also, besides the fact that it is a great way to release frustrations and share some of my thoughts, I do it as I can say what I like without the fear of being interrupted or questioned.
Since I began writing this post, my mind has gone in to overdrive and I have been thinking manically about it. It feels like I have missed something. There must be more to it than that. I feel that on a subconscious level, blogging must be fulfilling a thirst or satisfying a need of some kind.
Maybe I need gratification and I just hadn’t realised it. I believe that writing is similar to art in that you can often really see inside the creator’s soul when reading; you can feel their pain, and you can feel their happiness. Yes, I think that is it. Whilst all the things that I have mentioned are true, I think that the real reason lies with the fact that I just want to be noticed.
I believe that subconsciously my ego is reaching out in desperation and hoping that I will be seen. For someone to be interested in me as a person and to want to read what I have written is a buzz and shows that what I am doing is good, but I think that what I want even more than people to just read is for people to comment and give me their approval.
Without comments I am left to wonder if I am on the right path, and I am left to squirm and doubt myself. Self-doubt can be torturous and is something that I imagine we all suffer from with at some time in our lives.
So with a lot of thought and soul searching I think that I have discovered why I blog.
Do you blog? Do you know why you do it?

It was very interesting reading this and nice to get an understanding of parenting from a man's perspective.
Why I chose to write a blog is on my "About Me" page and my first post. Visit my page when you have time and have a read.
Keep up the hard but, fun work.
