What makes the perfect holiday?

Hello everyone *stretches arms and smiles lazily* I’m back!

Back from a two week complete switch off and if I am totally honest I’m struggling to leave this newfound state of pure relax that I have become accustomed too. I want it to continue and last forever I like it so much.

No television and no newspapers for a fortnight meant that I could just Be with no external worries or interruptions. The fact that I had to lug my laptop to the clubhouse to log on to the internet, which even then was a slow spinning wheel taking eternity to load up anything I wanted to get done quickly, meant I stayed away as much as possible. 

I dropped my friend Facebook for the majority of our stay just checking in occasionally to browse my timeline. Twitter was left unattended, Pinterest ignored and my inbox got a glance every 1 or 2 days just to clear out the constant arrival of Stuff. Stuff that I’m not bothered about and just takes up my time reading to see what on earth it is before deleting it and moaning about wasting my time.

It inspired me to think lots about my time and how I use it. That thinking led to My time on Mari’s World and how my blogging journey is changing yet again but not clear where it’s directing.

Instagram was my only connection with the online community as I was experiencing the world of Dorset beauty and I wanted to share it. However, I was bad at checking my timeline and visiting other people’s summer experiences. 

I found joy in other activities in Dorset; I picked up my knitting, I only have one ball of wool to go until I will have completed a cowl for winter. I picked up my embroidery and have almost completed the London skyline. I enjoyed sightseeing the Dorset coast, eating Dorset Apple Cake and drinking Dorset cider found on a hidden away farm, pressed by local hands and sold in plastic bottles.

I even read a whole book uninterrupted, The girl on the train by Paula Hawkins, a gripping read which also made me consider how much I am drinking. Go read the book and see why you too will ask yourself!

We’ve enjoyed a few holidays this year and each one has been wonderful but this one was more special than the others. I’ve been contemplating why and I believe it was because I completely switched off for once and now surrounded with the holiday aftermath of washing, ironing and things to put away I am acutely aware that I’m not quite ready to jump back into the nitty gritty of it all yet.

I’ve taken the executive decision, I’m going to chill out for the rest of August too and reassess come September.
