Travel Round-up: Freshly picked posts

Collating the Travel Round-up each month is great fun. There are several parent travel bloggers who feature regularly as they can always be relied on to have valuable travel information worth passing on. Some bloggers get a mention less often, maybe because they usually blog about other parenting issues and travel posts only pop up when they go on annual holidays or day trips. But it’s always exciting to find some new blogs so this month I have decided to highlight  sites which have never been mentioned in a BritMums Travel Round-up before. Their blogs were brought to my attention because they contacted me via Twitter or email or added a post to the linky which is underneath the round-up each month. I hope you find something new to read this month and maybe some ideas for the forthcoming October half-term.

Debra blogs at The Time Travelling Toddler and brings history to life through the eyes of her young son, William. This is a relatively new blog but with a refreshingly different slant: you can follow William’s adventures as he discovers exciting things about the past. A recent visit to Bolingbroke Castle seems to have been a hit with the young tot and Mummy has added lots of useful information too.

A Mum in London added a post about Greece to the linky last month and now Alexia and her family have escaped the city once more but not travelled quite so far. Having toddler fun in the September sunshine and a rather scrummy afternoon tea, Alexia shares her adventure in Escaping London: the White Cliffs of Dover.

Kate is another mum in London, who blogs at London with a Toddler. She has been providing information about her city for a couple of years now and is currently on the look out for the most toddler-friendly cafes. Did she find one on a day trip to Dulwich Park? 

A family travel blog and review site, TwoAdultsTwoChildren is written by Sonia and is a very informative read. It has the personal touch, coupled with lots of useful detail about each destination. Have a look at this recent post: Beach Fun in Bournemouth. 

Kiddie Holidays is another great blog/website with practical information about family holidays. If you need some inspiration for the forthcoming half-term holidays, Jo has some suggestions here: 10 Baby Friendly Holidays to go on in October

Hand-picked ideas for adventurous family holidays can be found at Kids Travel Deals. It is a website which has travel tips as well as suggestions for suitable books to read and, of course, ideas about holidays you might not have considered such as a Family Cycling Holiday in Sardinia.

Another website for family holidays worth a look is Single Parent Holidays. Andrea, a single parent herself, can organise the holiday for you and, in her blog, provides some personal recommendations. Thinking of a skiing holiday? Why not consider Val Gardena in the Dolomites.

Finally, for something completely different, I just had to share a video that Elizabeth from Elizabeth’s Kitchen Diary made about her family holiday to Unst, the most northerly island of the Shetlands. The family created a fun, adorable animation about their trip and I defy anyone not to love it. Is this the way forward for travel blogging?
