Being organised when planning a holiday might not be that important when you’re young, free and single, but when you have a family in tow, it can mean the difference between the success and failure of a trip.
This month I have found a number of great travel checklists provided by experienced family travel bloggers. Hopefully they can provide some useful tips for making the most of your precious holiday.
11 things travel has taught me about parenting: Cathy from Mummytravels tells us to ’embrace the rollercoaster’ and ‘always carry wet wipes’ when travelling with little ones.
Travelling with the toddler terror. An expat mum living in Dubai, Laura from Life with Baby Kicks has some great advice including how to adjust to time differences and the value of taking ‘busy bags’.
Top 10 tips for parents travelling with young kids. Making sure you do your research and being organised are two things that are vital when Ting, My Travel Monkey, travels with her little boy.
My top 10 travel hacks With her blog Jetlag and Mayhem always packed full of great advice on where to go on your family vacation, Nicola is also happy to share her ideas of how to make the process easier and cheaper.
10 things that always happen on our long car journeys. This post from Around the World with a Highchair made me smile as I could identify with a lot of these, especially eating rubbish at service stations.
Lists are also a quick and useful way to provide readers with suggestions of what to do when they reach their destination.
My top 10 family things to do in New York. Liz from The Mum Blog has some excellent ideas if you are considering a family trip to the Big Apple such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Times Square.
A stylish weekend in Oxford: 7 things to do with kids. Visiting the museums and eating like a student are suggestions from Susanna, A Modern Mother, following a recent visit to the university city.
Our top ‘Sun Holidays’ UK destinations. Julie, Mama Owl, has done all the research so you can make the most of the £9.50 newspaper holiday vouchers.
I hope you enjoyed my list of lists! If you have some of your own, why not tweet me the link so I can share them. Please contact me, via my blog or Twitter @mumsgoneto, if you would like me to consider a recent travel post in next month’s round-up.
About Trish Burgess
Trish Burgess started her blog ‘Mum’s Gone To…’ with a series of posts called ‘Mum's Gone To Iceland' where she was extremely ill on a whale-watching trip and thought she would die snow-mobiling on a glacier. Thankfully she survived and continued with less scary family trips: ‘Mum’s Gone To…Canada, Cyprus, Barcelona, Berlin etc. Originally from Newcastle upon Tyne she now lives in South Lincolnshire and travels with her husband and occasionally with her son, who is now at university.
