Disney has always excelled at the magical stories that endure beyond childhood. Its latest animation film enlists the classic Tinkerbell character along with her fairy friends in its latest animation film, Tinkerbell and The Legend of The Neverbeast. BritMums sent along a few families to enjoy the UK Gala screening at VUE in Leicester Square this weekend and the overall consensus was “good”, “really, really good” and “brilliant”.

We stopped after the film to get the first impressions of the viewers who count.
As in all Disney films, Legend of The Neverbeast is full of emotions and day-to-day questions, the most important being, Don’t judge a book by its cover.
Tinker Bell and the Legend of the Neverbeast – Spoiler alert!
Fawn the animal fairy takes centre stage in this film and we follow her passion for looking after all animals — even baby hawks who it so happens eat fairies!
Fawn finds the Neverbeast in pain; he’s trodden on a thorn and is limping. She manages to get the thorn out and by doing so embarks on a friendship with the Neverbeast. The problem is, the Scout fairies believe him to be a monster out to destroy Pixie Hollow, the fairies’ beloved homeland.

Fawn listens very carefully to her heart and it tells her to trust the Neverbeast. She manages to convince her friends too but as always, it’s not so simple convincing everyone, especially when Neverbeast looks so mean and scary.
What mums and children thought
There are parts that made the children jump in their seats, but not so scary that they wanted to run away.
There are parts that were sad, causing tears to trickle down cheeks of the young (and — ahem — the old as well).
In the end, Neverbeast is a wonderful immersion into the friendships that exist between humans and animals, a great lesson in listening to your heart and your head. It’s also a reminder of the wonderful things that can be achieved when friends come together and act as a team.
We say: A marvellous family film, with all the right ingredients of storytelling, engaging characters, a little bit of peril and a heartfelt message: Don’t judge a book by its cover.
