Thrifty round-up: Tutus and trains!!

I love autumn fashion; big warm coats and lovely winter boots but none of these items come cheap do they?  Thrifty fashion has been firmly on my mind as I source some new clothes for the colder weather. Well I have started a regular Friday frugal fashion feature over on my family budgeting blog and it’s a linky too. Do come and share your bargains and take a look at mine!

Lovely as autumn is it is scurrying away and everyone is starting to post about Christmas. Those with a thrifty mindset have been doing so for a while! It sneaks in. A woman with her mind firmly on the present is Maggie from REDTEDART. Not only does Maggie to lovely crafts but she can turn her hand to making thrifty clothes too. Here dress out of a pillowcase is fab. On this occasion she is making Halloween fancy dress and shows us how to make homemade tutus. I could not believe how simple this was – a thrifty fun solution to Halloween

Over at the Diary of a Frugal Family Cass is looking towards next year and starting to save for her holidays. She shares her top three ways to save your pennies…so simple we could all do this and see them mount up.

Over at Here Come the Girls Rebecca is being really resourceful and using her recycling box to initiate play. As our kids are being bombarded with images of ‘stuff’ they need for Christmas its is fabulous to go back to basics and encourage them to play with materials around them. Her cardboard box train is rather fabulous

As you can see we have been cardboard box crafting too but my daughter’s mind is firmly on Christmas!

As I said before my mind had been on frugal fashion this month and another wonderful blogger has been turning her mind to taking care of herself too. Sonia from this mummy loves has started a new blog called Finding my Inner Girl and she is discovering a love of fashion. Rather than spend a fortune getting a stylist’s consultation In her post 35 and don’t know how to dress Sonia has taken matter in to her  own hands found out her body shape, got advice and even created a style board. All online and all for free. Frugal fashion indeed!
