The 2012 Snap! BiB Award Finalists

I love photography, I love the moments that it captures, the memories it saves and the endless time wasting as I flick back through my years and retrace my steps as far as I can go.

I’ve had a camera for as long as I can remember now and although I am no way near professional, having looked at so many fabulous blogs who are good I’m beginning to think I may have picked up a tip or two from them. They all certainly give me enormous inspiration and force me to try and be a little more creative in my photo taking thinking.

A Mummy Too

Emily Leary writes ‘I’m a tech-addicted, married, 29-year-old mum to an arty four year old boy and a tiny baby girl. At work I’m a marketing bod, speaker and trainer. In my spare time (yeah, right), I blog on various sites about work and home life, indulge my passion for photography, craft and baking, and generally spend far too much time on Twitter.’  Her blog is full of fabulous photography, lots of her children, some delicious food shots and plenty of days out too – have a look at one of my favourite places that she has captured beautifully.

Started as a family blog to keep the relations up to date and has turned into a fun project with lots of people popping in and out to see what’s going on. Becky, Tom and baby Holly are the protagonists, Becky, a primary teacher by trade says ‘I have to say life is pretty good, can’t complain. There are hard days and harder days, but then there are wonderful days. I’m not a liar, I won’t sit here and write a “please envy my life” section. We all have moments no-one else would wish for, but on the whole I’d say we’re in a fine and dandy place.’ Tom shoots weddings for a living and uses photography to remember, his pictures are his dairy and Holly? Chloe Witters

Chloe Bridge is a professional photographer and has a marvellous portfolio of family and child portrait photographs that are simply stunning. She says ‘Living my mid-twenties in an unplanned manner. Mother to toddler tearaway, Arlo. Girlfriend/partner/general housebum to Sam, who I met at uni and haven’t let go of since (he’s a good cook). Living the mortgaged dream-slash-nightmare in our first little house in London. Lover of dogs and all things turquoise. Dear Beautiful Boy

Lucy writes and snaps and keeps up her online diary where she captures moments of her Dear Beautiful Boy. Together with her husband, who keeps her grounded, her two cats Darcy and Wentworth and a baby on the way she has a lot to talk about. A great way to see her documentation of DBB’s life is through her Our Beautiful year, our week in photos and you can really see that her photography is more than just DBB and is simply delightful to look at.

My So Called Life

Sticky Fingers

Tara Cain  was a features editor. She worked in busy newsrooms, rubbing shoulders with bigwigs and buzzing with the thrill of working on a newspaper for 20 years. She thrived on the stress and loved her job she even set up a successful blog for them but she quit all that to have children, something she thought she’d never do and is Ever So Pleased She Did as they have changed her life. Tara runs the very popular The Gallery where she invites bloggers to thumb through old photos or take new ones to sum up her weekly prompt. For someone who never thought she’d be a mum her Favourite Things About Being One is a fabulous post with a perfect example of her brilliant photography

The Boy and Me

Says ‘On 12th June 2009 my life changed forever, and for the better. The Boy was born, all 10lb 5oz of him. Hubby & I can’t remember what it was like without him: we suspect it involved more sleep and less washing, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.’

The Boy and Me has been blogging now for a couple of years and in 2011 took part in 365 she liked it so much she did a 366 for 2012 and her work really captures something special in each shot. It goes without saying that she has an exceptional model, the Boy himself but I loved her take on the London Eye when she visited a while back here Sunshine

The StartUp Wife

Emily and her husband live the Start Up Life, ‘The entreprenuerial life. He’s the part that goes out and makes fabulous things happen. I am the part that stays at home and keeps it all together. It’s not easy. It takes a huge amount of energy, guts, risk-taking, love, trust, strength and above all belief in each other.’

They have three children and she says life is ‘amazing, exciting and brilliant, and scary, stressful and often risky.’  Being a photographer helps produce beautiful shots to look at but have a look at her post The Little Things to get an idea for yourself on how she captures the insignificant and transforms is into something very special.
