Only three days until the UK’s largest mum blogging conference, CyberMummy (!) I’ve had my hair cut, my chin hair zapped and I know what I’m going to wear (jeans and a top that looks like a Matisse painting, if you really want to know).
But what about the kids?
Hubby is working from home on Friday, so he can collect them from school. I’m fairly confident he knows where their classrooms are. I’m not as confident they will be healthfully nourished.
While I was doing last minute CyberMummy preparations, I overheard heard the girls talking over breakfast:
“Mummy’s going to a thing in London and staying in a hotel,” my nine-year-old commented, as she took a bite of scrambled eggs. “I heard her tell daddy he has to make us dinner AND not eat out every night.”
“I like daddy dinners,” my six-year-old said, “he gets them out of the fridge.”
“Daddy won’t make us dinner,” my seven-year-old chimed in, “When mummy’s gone we always have sandwiches. Or go to Pizza Express.”
The three spent the rest of breakfast discussing dining options. I think they settled on TGI Friday for Friday night, and Nandos for Saturday. The nine-year-old would make everyone toast and eggs for breaksfast, and who know about lunch. Perhaps one of daddy’s sandwiches.
How about you, what are the kids doing while you are at CyberMummy?

Well, since Chris and I share the parenting and household (and work, actually) jobs pretty much equally, it won't be hugely different to normal, except he'll have to do it all on his own, of course, instead of doubling up like usual. The main issue he will face is taking Eleanor along on Saturday morning to ballet - I usually take Rosemary and he looks after Eleanor, as her almost 2-year-old strops can be a bit of a challenge out and about. Rosemary has decided on egg mayonnaise sandwiches for Friday night dinner. I'm seeing a lot of comments around about how children won't be wearing matching clothes and will be eating junk food and I'm actually a bit surprised. I'm obviously spoiled, because Chris cooks as many meals as I do and is very competent at picking out clothes (often does better than me). He's also better at keeping the house tidy while looking after the girls and they usually do what he asks much more than they do what I ask. I have no qualms about leaving them.

My daughter is having a full-on sleepover: BOTH NIGHTS at one of her best friend's house. I expect she'll be overtired and completely depleted when we pick her up on Sunday morning...

I have a bit of a dilemma, daddy is on a half day outing with 'the lads' on Friday and won't be home till gone midnight and who knows what state he'll be in? Thank goodness mum is staying over so I can catch a train at daybreak and the girls get a decent breakfast before daddy arises. I'll set the Ibuprofen on the counter ready fo him :) I wasn't going to miss this Cybermummy for love nor money

The Teenager is staying at her friend's house for the weekend, and Tall Daughter is going to stay with friends at their house. The dog is booked into the kennels, and I'm ready to roll! 2 days of FREEDOM!
