Teen and Tween Round-up: Unexpected achievements and a little ditty

We’re back! Did you miss us?

The round-up had to take a month off for January after I moved house (twice) and had no proper internet for weeks. But I’m back in the real world and ready to share with you some posts from our finest bloggers on the mysterious world of teens and tweens.

So what have our teens and tweens been up to over the last couple of months? I love The 40 Year Old Domestic Goddess post on 30 jobs a stay at home parent does. Some of them are jobs all parents do, but others are unique to teen parents. And they’re not unique to stay at home parents either!

Over on my blog at MumofThree World it’s been pretty much all about moving house and decorating, but I did take time to share a post on some of my children’s unexpected achievements which made me a very proud mum.

Mummy Endeavours very honestly says her teen has been ‘especially exasperating’, so she has composed a little ditty all about him. Have a read of her beautiful and funny poem – it brought tears to my eyes (and some of them were of recognition!).

Victoria from Verily Victoria Vocalises has a 7 year old, so what’s she doing here? Well, she also has a weekly guest post slot and recently published a post from Izzie Anderton – in my humble opinion one of the best teen parent bloggers out there. Izzie reminds parents of younger children to appreciate the little things, because suddenly they’re grown up and all those things you took for granted are gone!

I couldn’t have a teen and tween round-up without a post from Izzie Anderton‘s own blog. Her daughters are now 19 and at university, but this post about the chaos as they returned to university after the holidays confirms they aren’t completely grown-up yet!

Being a parent of tweens myself, I know just how forgetful and careless they are, so I chuckled with recognition at this post by Suzanne from 3 Children and It about a mysterious disappearing £10 note.

Teens and tweens spend too long in front of screens, don’t they? And if you’re reading this, the chances are their parents do too! So I  had to share a second post from from 3 Children and It this month as her family went a whole day without screens Suzanne lets us in on the results here. Could you do it? (I’m not sure I could!)

On the other side of the screen debate, I love this post from Was this in the plan? Her son has asperger’s and they’ve accepted parenting is always going to be a little different. Just as I never thought I’d spend every Sunday freezing on a muddy touchline, they never thought they’d embrace gaming. But their son has had real success on the Playstation and wants to make a career out of it. He also shares some valuable time with his dad. Who says screens are always bad?

This post from the ever-funny Best Dad I Can Be on buying a new towel really made me laugh. Yes, I did say ‘buying a new towel’. Read it, seriously, it’s so much funnier than you would imagine it
