Well the festive season is almost upon us. Will you be worrying about your teenager’s alcohol consumption and what they might be getting up to at those Christmas parties? Or will you just be struggling to get your big kids out of bed over the school holidays?
Here’s what our teens and tween have been up to lately…
Mama Owl shares a really beautiful post with us about remembering the ‘last time’. As her children grow up, they are choosing to let go of their toys and the things they used to love. If you’ve got little ones, have a read. You’ll be surprised at how quickly they get to this stage!
My heart was breaking for Secret Divorcee’s tween son as he struggles to cope with those first few months of secondary school and his old friends leaving him behind. If anyone has any advice, I’m sure she would really appreciate it.
I had to include another post from Secret Divorcee this month – all about the realisation that her younger son is becoming a man – yes, we’re talking hair and sweat, and I can totally relate!
It’s hard to believe, I know, but social media might be even more important to teenagers than it is to us! Suzanne from 3 Children and It shares with us her very funny and tongue in cheek (but also quite useful) teenage guide to Instagram #justforthelolz
Over at MumofThree World my nearly-tween daughter has been embarrassing her brother in front of his friends. Can anyone else relate to this phenomenon?
I love this positive post from The Mum Blog about her teenage son being all grown up. When your son (or daughter) is being grumpy and awkward, it’s good to know that they come out the other side and grow up to be young adults you’re proud of.
It’s great to have so many positive posts about teenagers, because they’re not that bad really! Not Supermum is celebrating her daughter’s 18th birthday.
Christmas parties can mean drink. And not just for older teenagers. Best Dad I Can Be gives us a warning of what might happen the first time our kids get drunk. I can’t say I’m looking forward to it!
On the subject of drinking, this very informative post from Pink Oddy reminds us just how young children can be when they start drinking – and the negative effects it can have on their lives. Is it time to start talking to your kids about alcohol?
I couldn’t finish a December round-up without a look at Christmas. But hasn’t all the magic gone now our kids are big? It’s over to Suzanne at 3 Children and It again who persuades us there’s plenty to enjoy about Christmas with big kids.
That’s about all for this month. Merry Christmas and see you again in January. In the meantime, if you have any posts about teens or tweens, please add them to the linky below.
