Style round-up – Young Things!

Style round-up – Young Things!

styleTo get inspiration for my own blog, I regularly read a lot of blogs written by younger girls. In truth, I’m old enough to be mum to most of them but it’s very easy to get stuck in a rut with your own style and to only be influenced by other mums you meet each day or bloggers of your own age. So I find reading blogs from these younger girls is a great way for me to keep in touch with what’s on trend and also to judge what might work (with tweaks) on me.

Alexandra at Lovely Pepa is a Spanish girl who’s truly living the blogging dream. It’s now a full time job for both her and her boyfriend (quite usefully, a photographer – I think that’s where I went wrong!) and she travels to all the fashion weeks and designs shoes for a Spanish company called Krack. She also works closely with brands like Louis Vuitton, Martini and Rimmel London. She’s a gorgeous girl with a lovely personality that comes through on her blog and I adore her style. She also features some interesting brands from Europe that you may not have heard of before.

Mel at Mediamarmalade.com is also in her 20’s, works in the media industry and has never missed a day of posting on her blog since it started back in November 2011. Unlike Alexandra, Mel lives in the UK so her outfits are more in tune with our lovely weather. She’s down to earth, clearly works incredibly hard in her job and her blog and constantly inspires me with her outfits. I can always take something from her look and integrate it into my school gate lifestyle.

Serbian born Tamara, who now lives in England, blogs over at Glam and Glitter. She is another fabulous young blogger who has grown her passion into a career. She does great You-tube videos regularly but I mostly follow her blog to check out her amazing handbag collection. Handbag lovers out there – you’ll adore her.

Finally, Laura at Styled by Laura is actually the daughter of Anne from the Heart & Soul blog (another fab stylish blog) so she really is officially young enough to be my daughter! Her mother’s great genes are evident in her photographs but what I love is her eye for style. She can find the most gorgeous items on the high street and make you want them now…like the Oasis coat on this post!

The over-riding theme across all of these blogs is the professionalism and confidence of these young girls. They work hard at their blogs but they also work at earning an income for themselves in their day jobs too. It’s fantastic to see. But as well as that, they are inspirational in their style. There’s always at least one aspect of their outfit that a busy mum can incorporate into her style too. It’s the perfect way to keep your look on-trend and modern without being a slave to fashion.

Until next month Britmums, when I’ll be looking back at some street style from the recent fashion weeks…Ax
