All the 4th of July celebrations got me thinking that it was about time I showcased some stylish bloggers from across the Atlantic. One thing I’ll say about US & Canadian bloggers is that they are great at celebrating each other’s blogs through link-ups, cross advertising and joint competitions. Lots to be learned from it – we definitely don’t do enough of it here in the UK.
First up, a blogger who came all the way to Belfast to meet me earlier this year. My Superfluities is the place to go if you’re a Boden or JCrew fan. Dina not only has an impressive collection of these brands herself, she also links up to any other bloggers featuring Boden or JCrew each week. So no matter where you’re based, send Dina a message if you feature these brands on your blog and she’ll try to fit you into her next round-up.
Next is a recent find for me and I just adore this creative and inspirational blog from Gussy ( who also answers to Maggie) – Gussy Sews. As well as showcasing her design and sewing talent via her online store, Gussy also shares a mix of personal style, family and craft diy/tutorials. You will love browsing over her extensive archive….and you may find yourself (as I did) pricing sewing machines shortly afterwards…
Martha blogs over at MarthaWills and her blog is a mixture of fashion, running and parenting (with some yoga thrown in for good measure!) I find her posts always interesting, often thought provoking and she manages to share her world and life with you without ever invading hers or her kids’ privacy. I love that….there are no photos of her and her girls yet I feel like I know her so well just from her writing.
Jody at About Last Weekend has to be the funniest of the US bloggers I follow. A Kiwi living on the West Coast of the US, she has such a funny take on life, family, fashion and holidays. Her style is impeccable from the amazing home she lives in to her choice of beautiful clothing to wear. And each time I see a picture of her, I can’t believe she’s got grown up children as she looks way too young for that carry on.
Another new one for me is Mama in Heels written by Janise, an inspirational woman who faced divorce and the loss of her business just a few years ago. She now has adorable twin boys, an Italian husband (ooo err!) and a blog with tons of style, fitness, food and home finance advice…oh and you’ve got to check out her header photo for a great example of how to do this well. I love her style and her positive attitude to life and she’s a great supporter of other bloggers via her link-ups.
Finally, I leave you with two you may already follow. I think of them as fashion blogging royalty. Wendy and Kendi….both achingly beautiful and effortlessly stylish but behind the Loubs and the perfectly coiffed hair, these women are both remarkable.
Wendy had a challenging upbringing but now helps other children in similar situations and Kendi has just recently opened up about her ongoing battle with depression, helping many other women in the same situation. A reminder to us all that no matter how stylish and lovely we look in our blogs, we all have our daily challenges.
And on that deep thought, I leave you this month.
Thank you for reading. Happy School Holidays!
