What’s your dream? That’s the question we asked ourselves after meeting Sophie Bush and hearing about how she transformed an idea into a blog into a gorgeous print magazine and collaboration projects with British designers.
Sophie will be speaking at #BML16 on our Creation Inspiration session — a segment devoted to hearing from innovators who, like you, have had a dream and turned it into a gorgeous reality.
Sophie Bush has a background in interior design and styling and works in publishing, although interior design and architecture remain her absolute obsession. In 2013, she moved into a warehouse home in East London and fell in love with the exposed brick walls, steel columns, galvanised piping and hardwood flooring. She and her husband were keen to decorate the flat in keeping with the riverside wharf heritage but still contemporary and stylish. They didn’t want it to end up looking like a themed pub! It became clear that “industrial chic” is hugely popular, but there wasn’t a single place to find a carefully curated selection of the best furniture and accessories for a warehouse home. In a nutshell, that’s how she was inspired to create– to share special finds, news and inspiration with others living in warehouse / loft apartments or looking to inject industrial chic into their homes.
A Brief Overview of Our Story So Far
mywarehousehome.com launched in early 2014. In October 2014, Sophie and her husband published the first issue of Warehouse Home. Warehouse Home is now regarded as the definitive title for residents of premium lofts and warehouse conversions and as the go-to design magazine for industrial, vintage and reclaimed style for modern homes. Sir Terence Conran described Warehouse Home as “a great new title that freshens up the design market”. Printed bi-annually, it’s delivered directly to the UK’s finest warehouse conversions. The digital edition has been read in over 60 countries.
In addition to the magazine and blog, they collaborate with British designers on exclusive design collections and have just launched a new e-shop as well as signing a global book deal with Thames & Hudson.
