Hooray for Summer Holidays, eh? Or… you know… er…
This month’s round-up is a little early, and also a tad slimmed-down as everyone is off on hollibobs and having a well deserved rest.
I don’t know about you, but the Summer holidays are one of those times when it really notices that I’m a single parent. I still enjoy having fun in the sun though!
So what has everyone been up to this month?
Single Parent Adopter has been to an activity day for people looking to adopt – this is something I’d seen on TV but it hadn’t occurred to me that they actually happened. The issues raised in this post are really thought-provoking; I can’t help thinking it must be a terrifying experience for all concerned. Perhaps they get easier as time passes.
Lakes Single Mum had an altogether more carefree experience at Legoland Windsor and includes some top tips that are relevant for a lot of days out, actually. I love posts like this; lovely to see the look of sheer joy on the children’s faces!
Looking for Blue Sky has been off gallivanting too – she’s definitely enjoying her freedom! The start of this post really makes me want to learn to drive – cruising south towards the sun with the music turned up! Heaven!
Of course, Summer holidays can’t be all days out – most of us like to spend some time at home, relaxing and chilling out – which is why I’ve chosen a post from Cocktails in Teacups to include here. These biscuits look stunning and are also something for little people to help with in the kitchen. Anything that involves mess with scrummy food at the end is usually a winner in our kitchen and these definitely fit the bill.
I’ll leave you with this post from Mummy Musings – because it’s the antithesis of everything that has gone before. Meditation is something I dip in and out of, but always know I would feel a lot better if I kept up with. If you have a spare 20 minutes here and there, the program Natasha has been doing sounds fab.
That’s it for now; as always, if you’d like to be included in next month’s round-up, email me at singlemotherahoy@gmail.com. Cut off for September’s round-up is Wednesday 24th September.
I hope everyone out there is having a splendid Summer and cramming in as much fun as possible!
About Vicky Charles
Vicky is a 35 year old single mother with a cheeky 4 year old. She lives in Wiltshire and works as a freelance writer and trainer in blogging and social media. She has been a single mother since her daughter was 2 weeks old, and started blogging to try and give voice to her feelings of “lost-at-sea-ness” that all mothers get, but that single mothers often don’t have any company in. In her spare time, she usually develops addictions to dvd box sets and sometimes cleans the living room… but not often.
