Welcome to the February edition of the Single Parents’ Round-up. Without meaning to, I seem to have picked up several posts that highlight how tough it can be to be a single parent. Everyone is struggling in their own way, but when you’re a single parent there is often nobody else with whom to share the burden.
Hannah from Hannah Spannah Coco Banana has been having real trouble with her co-parenting set up lately, and this post really highlights just how tough it can be when trying to help your child maintain a relationship with your ex partner.
Michaela at Two Little Paines has a poorly son who’s been in and out of A&E lately – which must be so stressful for all concerned.
This post from Martyn at Inside Martyn’s Thoughts is another which highlights the struggles of single parents. Martyn is coming up against problems with the DVLA, which means he is now housebound until the problem is resolved.
Ally at Mum Under Measure has also been having a bit of a hard time of it lately. In this post she talks about her son being referred to a paediatrician, and worries whether her being a single mum means she’s not spent enough time with her son. It’s something all single parents worry about but I hope Ally knows it’s not her fault.
As a contrast to the three posts above, I offer you this from Beth at Muddling Through the Mayhem of Motherdom. She’s living with her mum at the moment, and unleashing her inner teenager!
And finally, for a little indulgence, I bring you Becky from Lakes Single Mum and her Guide blanket – which brings back memories for me… though Becky got way more badges!
Although many of this month’s posts might seem a little bleak and depressing, they also highlight the strength and courage of single parents. With nobody else to turn to we deal with difficult situations time and again, always putting our children first and always coming out the other side.
