So Christmas is over, the decorations are coming down and we’ve got the New Year to look forward to!
I’ve seen a lot of goal-setting going on towards the end of the year, which I personally think is a good thing – as long as it’s realistic.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned this year it’s to over-achieve and feel great about yourself rather than set your expectations sky-high, fail miserably and feel lousy because of it – trust me it’s happened a few times and it’s not pretty!
So for 2019, I’m challenging myself to make more money, be thriftier and focus more on me. You know, the little things in life like a manicure or facial every now and then – experiences that make our lives richer. 2019 should be all about ourselves!
And when it comes to shopping, I’m learning from my mistakes and not buying dungarees, skirts that end on the shin or skinny jeans when I know that they do nothing for me (or my figure), despite how much I like them. Yep, I’m investing in myself.
As usual, I’ve been scouring the web to see what you guys have been buying – and it has certainly been a great month for shopping! Not to mention when we had Black Friday too! And from the looks of it, you’re in agreement about investing in yourself.
And long may that continue because us mums always make time for everyone else – now should be the time to turn the focus back on ourselves.
Colour me beautiful
Linda from Boots, Shoes and Fashion is a girl after my own heart! She put a post together on some of her favourite new season nail colours, some of which look fab and totally apt for the festivities.
And as she points out, she actually found that some of the cheaper shops and supermarkets had nail polishes that she preferred – a wider range of colours, not too thin and long lasting.
It just goes to show that the supermarkets and ‘bargain shops’ are playing catch up with wellbeing and beauty trends. If fact, it was only the other day when I spotted that Groupon were selling their own brand of magnetic lashes – thinking about getting some for myself!
Meanwhile, Bellissimamma tried a makeup brand called Mommy Makeup, which is available to order online.
It’s not a brand I’ve heard of before, but it was interesting to read what she said about how long the product lasted.
Dress me up
Still on the subject of taking time out for ourselves, Anna Nuttall wrote a great post called New Hair, New Camera, New Perspective, where she showcased her gorgeous new hair colour (sadly I’m not brave enough to go that colour but it looks awesome!)
Anna’s got the right idea though; it’s time to take stock of 2018, realise how far we’ve come and take time out to be kind to ourselves every now and then.
We’re always rushing around for other people – sometimes it’s nice to turn the attention on ourselves – whether that means having a new hair look or even treating yourself to some new clothes.
Talking of clothes, have you read about my go-to outfit for winter? It’s a great look to take you from day to night as you can dress it up/down as you see fit.
But guess what guys? Is This Mutton proves that you don’t have to wear winter clothes just because it’s winter!
In fact, Gail’s post ‘How To Wear A Summer Skirt in Winter’ is a real eye-opener. Well, for me it was anyway as I have this habit of packing away my summer clothes when it’s winter and vice versa.
Finally, if your brain is a little fried at this time of the year (with just sooooo much going on), then have a little read of Susie’s post, Who Gives A Flying…
Trust me, it’ll put everything in perspective and you’ll realise that you really aren’t the only one…
Whatever you get up to over the New Year guys, I hope you have a good one! And remember – take time out for yourself! And let’s make 2019 all about us!
I’m back again in 2019 showcasing your new buys for the new year – hit me up by sending me your posts!
