Positively Inspirational Round-up: Brave girls, singing hearts & life changes

inspirationalOne of my favourite times of the month is when I sit down and seek out the posts that will be part of this round-up. It is no hardship to have to read loads of posts that are all designed to inspire or uplift you and of course one of the joys of blogging and our genre of parent blogging is that there is so much diversity. Some people may try to box us in and limit us but we are having none of it and parents write about all sorts.

First off, I really loved this post from Kate takes 5, she has spent some time musing what makes her heart sing and you can feel her joy as you read through the things that make a difference to her and then she leaves us with the line “Life can be one hard slog if we let it, so stop and ask yourself now – What matters? What makes my heart sing?” I’m certainly going to ponder this, will you?

Candi at Looking for Blue Sky is grateful her teens are back at school and I was so pleased to read she grasped the moment and found her happy place.  I think she has a wonderful philosophy, one for us all to embrace sometimes – “I’ll take today and worry about tomorrow when it comes around.”

This next post was flagged up to me by Helen at Actually Mummy, she had read a post on The World According to Izzie, penned by Izzie’s daughter Olivia and loved the positive tone. Olivia shares with us her excitement when she applies for new opportunities and encourages us to trust our instincts. If an opportunity does not excite her, no matter how lucrative it could be she won’t go for it.  I think that is a lesson many of us could do with learning.

Mentioning Helen I can’t put together an inspirational round-up this month without mentioning all the work she is doing to raise awareness of Type 1 diabetes and the killer disease it can be. Her post ‘The truth about diabetes’ marks the year anniversary of GG being diagnosed and celebrates how well they have both done in their massive learning curve.

Talking of children fighting terrible illnesses I have been amazed and inspired over the last three years as I watched the grace and positivity that Laura from Tired Mummy of Two displayed as her daughter Elizabeth was treated for cancer. She has written a touching piece reflecting on how the cancer may now be gone but life will never be the same again. She says what the cancer has taught them is to make memories and enjoy the experiences life presents them with.

Jean at Not Supermum also captured my interest with a post about simplifying life and realising that the best things in life are not things at all and then Laura at Yummy Mummy Flabby Tummy has reminded me (yet again) to be grateful for the everyday. Her children may have been back at school for the last couple of weeks and this gave her free time to please herself but then she found herself anticipating their home time.

Next up is a beautiful tribute from Claire at Clarina’s Contemplations to her Granddad who has recently passed away. Whilst of course she is sad and grieving, it is amazing to read about her faith and joy that her Granddad is now with his Savour.

It made me smile to read a post from Emma at Emma and 3, she writes about an event she attended where she was given time to relax and encouraged to put herself first and look after her emotional well-being as well as her physical health. There are some beautiful photos of Emma in this post and you can see she was comfortable in her own skin that day.

There are some people who think a blog is just a small hobby, a frivolity that we undertake once in a while but as Jennifer shares here blogging really can change your life for the better. Not only do we create a showcase of celebrations and capture amazing memories we also engage with a remarkable and encouraging community, earn a bit of money along the way and grow in confidence too.

Thanks so much for journeying with me through all these fabulous blogs, I wish you well as the schools restart and routine returns and I hope you have had a blessed summer.  I’ve certainly had an enjoyable summer without too many commitments and I’ve been busy working on some posts inspired by my faith and sharing what it means to me to be a Christian.

Next month Mama Syder will be back with her top picks and I’ll see you again at the beginning of November.  Mich xx

About Michelle Pannell

Mummy from the Heart is the fourth baby of Michelle, a 46 year old (manic) mother living in East Sussex. Having moved to the countryside and ‘retired’, Michelle can now be found eating too much cake and taking long walks. She lives life on the bright side and looks for the joy in every situation, even the excess pounds those cakes keep adding! Michelle’s blog is a very honest place where she shares tales of imperfect parenting, being a Christian digital activist and anything else that takes her fancy.
