Review Round-up: Food and drink

Review Round-up: Food and drink

reviewsCan hardly believe it’s June already. Last week it felt like summer had really hit, and we were outside in the garden having picnics and BBQ’s. This week – well, we seem to have gone back to a miserable, wet winter again.

This month, I have collected together a great selection of food and drink reviews from the blogging community. Whether you are looking for some ideas for gifts or home treats, or whether you fancy heading out for a bite to eat, there is a blog review for you!

For the carnivores, have you considered trying The Carnivore Club – a cured meat subscription box? What The Redhead Said describes it as a great way to get a meat fix and learn about quality produce. Donna has also reviewed The Mindful Chef – a meal box subscription service, perfect for busy families. These seem to be increasing in popularity lately, and we enjoyed trying out the Riverford Recipe box ourselves not long ago – it’s a great way to discover new foods and recipes. Plutonium Sox teamed up with The Co-Operative lately to create this amazing looking sandwich, and I am intrigued by this review of the Crackin’ Egg Company over on Nobody Said it was Easy – brightly coloured hard-boiled eggs cased in a 100% natural coating and served with a side of flavour. Sealing in all the goodness and keeping them fresh for a whole month. What a new and interesting idea! Many bloggers have shared their reviews of the Degustabox over the last year or so, and it’s something we have enjoyed trying too – a box full of newly launched goodies to your door each month – everything from chocolate, sweets and biscuits to cider, juice and meal ideas!

For the kids, you could try Newtons Appl Fizzics as reviewed by Max and Mummy – refreshing, sparkling apple drink, ideal for after school treats or picnics in the park. Drinks for the grown ups could be covered by this range of Karma Cola – I love the review from Baba a Fi, and the packaging is so eye catching!

If you need a gluten free option, what about the Rizopia brown rice pasta? Rachel Bustin has used it to make a bolognese, and has shared her thoughts about it on the blog. For the dairy free foodies, you should definitely have a go at making these dairy free milkshakes – they look amazing! Thanks to Canny Food for sharing this – these will be perfect as a treat for my little boy.

For food inspiration, head to Durham Street Food Festival! Country Heart and Home has written about the fantastic atmosphere and all the wonderful food on offer there.

If you are looking for somewhere to head out to for a lovely meal, how about Wildwood Kitchen? Ranting Gran gives it the thumbs up, and I think the berry waffles look delicious! Nomipalony has been to the River Beat restaurant to sample their Asian Tapas menu, and Cuddle Fairy has given the Brasserie on the Corner a glowing review. Mrs Shilts had a pleasant and friendly evening out at their local Ember Inns, and All about a mini describes her food journey at The Celtic Manor Resort. I love the sound of lunch at The Riverside Brasserie as showcased by A Strong Coffee, and afternoon tea at the The Old Parsonage would be the perfect way to spend a few hours – thanks to Live Oxfordshire for sharing that review!

For something totally different – how about the CatPawCino? Mandy Charlton Photography Blog has talked about this unique place where you can go for afternoon tea surrounded by a selection of cats. Yes, you did read that right – a cafe with cats for company. Do you fancy it?

I will be back next month with another Review Round-Up focusing on baby and toddler clothing – if you have a review you think would fit then please get in touch!

About Kate Fever

I am Kate and I blog at Family Fever (http://myfamilyfever.co.uk). My blog is a family, parenting and lifestyle blog, featuring everything from weaning and teething tips to home decoration, recipes and giveaways. I also run the weekly Tried & Tested linky, where people can share their reviews with others in the community - it's so helpful to read real life reviews of things you are considering buying for yourself. I have 4 children myself, ranging in age from 9 down to 6 months, and I work from home as a blogger and freelance writer. I previously worked as a nursery assistant, and I love being able to bring creative play and activity ideas from that career into my blog life. There are plans for a new career on the horizon, so watch this space!
