Foodie Round-up: Valentines, comfort food and 5:2 recipes

food round-upThere are a lot of culinary moments coming up and the most important this week is Valentines Day, if you are looking for some recipe inspiration look no further.

February is also a mix of those on a diet, I’m having a go at the 5:2 myself and those indulging in comfort food, I tend to swing between the two.

Half term is also knocking at the door and we have some fun recipes to keep everyone amused for a while, take a look.

Valentines

Truly Madly Kids has Blueberry Muffins for breakfast a great way to start your day

Claire Justine has very kindly put together an extensive list of 20 Valentines recipes

Foodie Quine has a simple but delicious recipe for Duck breast and plum salad

Or you could try my easy peasy Swordfish cooking in a tomato sauce with a kick recipe, cooked from frozen for #CoolCookery on Mari’s World.

Super Goldenbakes stole my heart with her Rose and Lemon cake a MUST try.

Pistachio and Honey is proposing Cinnamon and Cardamom cake which sounds really interesting

And Chris Mosler has  a beautiful and simple recipe on Life is Delicious for Lavender biscuits

Half term fun

Looking for ideas to keep the children amused – or yourself sane?

Searching for Spice has Olaf biscuits for Frozen fans, I know my twins would love to have a go at these.

Family Friends Food has an ingenious Nutella Bread and Butter Pudding

And Cake Junki has the Chocolate Mug Cake recipe for us for a quick chocolate fix? 

Comfort Food

Julie’s Family Kitchen has an appetising Tomato Bean and chorizo soup

or Delicieux has the soup Chicken Garbure which is really intriguing and on my ‘to make’ list for February.

Family Food  Friends also has a vegetarian option, a veggie sausage roasted tray bake

You must have seen English Mum on the tv since the beginning of the year with her risotto recipe ingeniously using frozen diced onions – I am now such a huge fan of these. She has Slow cooked Barbecue Pulled Chicken for you to feast on this month. 

And if you still want more cake then The 21st century housewife has a round-up of her favourites on the blog, it’s difficult to decide which to go with first.

5:2 diet

This one might be for me than for you as I’m having a go at this diet and always on the lookout for interesting recipes to eat on the 500 calorie day, this one is a cracker Spiced Moroccan Cauliflower Couscous Tabbouleh only 56 calories. Thank you Lavender and Lovage 

I have been watching Feisty Tapas in awe of her Thermomix recipe capabilites. She introduced me to this wondrous machine and her blog is FULL of ideas.

Gluten free

The Come Back Mum has Chai Seed Banana Bread for Gluten Free lovers
