Poetry and Prose Round-up : For Mum

I can hardly believe that it is April already and that another Mother’s Day has now passed. For me Happy Mothers Day by The UnCheshire Wife, sums up the reality of the day when you have young children. Another piece which made me laugh out loud this month was Down At The Pool by Writing Bubble. I’m certain any mother who endures the swimming on a regular basis would be able to identify with this!

Duplicity by Supper and Syntax is a clever love story with a sting in the tale, whilst If I Could is a truly gorgeous tale of unrequited love from Waiting To Blossom. 

Crush reminds us of the agony of love from a teenage point of view by Lovely2Cu, and But That Is Not What I Meant by Lisa’s Life is a poignant reminder of how we do not always say exactly what we mean.

If I Had Three Wishes by Mum Turned Mom is a lovely poem about appreciating and changing the little things in life, whilst Tears Bubble from Instinctive Mum is a touching, honest piece about keep up appearances and putting on a brave face. Intended Collisions 2 – for Auntie Sarah, is a remarkable, heartwarming tale from Life As It Is and you are missing out if you do not spare a few minutes to read it.

She Didn’t Get A Spring is an eloquant, heartbreaking piece of poetry from Edspire, and Happy Birthday Mum is a beautiful tribute to a lost loved one from Jacintaz3.

Pigeon Pair and Me shared a lovely piece about breathing new life into old toys from Our Time Of Gifts – Week 34, and Ojos World gave us the very unsettling Staring.

Secrets Of The Sandpit wrote a beautiful piece about the safe haven we represent for our young children in Lost Fish, whilst Poetry and Pandemonium shared the gorgeously descriptive Tiger Mother. Fox is a highly evocative piece from Kate On Thin Ice, whilst Emily’s Page celebrated a small triumph as The Other Woman.

Ascent Into Night is a vividly descriptive piece from The Family Adventure Project, and The Game I’ll Always Play from EmmaandIssac is a beautifully written poem which will stay with you long into the small hours.

The end of March has seen the launch of new publishing initiative Britian’s Next Best Seller. Part of their impressive launch team is James Hallsworth with his hilarious children’s poem Mrs Vyle. I’ve had the pleasure of illustrating this book and am so pleased for James that his monstrous campaign is now live!

It is with regret that I close this round-up with the news that it will be my last. I’ve really enjoyed reading all the lovely poetry we are so lucky to have within our community, and would like to give a special thanks to the lovely Victoria Welton, without whom we would not have the fabulous #Prose4T, and who amazes us all with her seemingly effortless ability to produce piece after piece of clever and honest poetry. We all know the Poetry & Prose Round-Up will be safe in her hands!
