Soon the daffodils will be poking through the ground and with a fresh new year comes a fresh new enthusiasm to many bloggers. It’s a little nudge to try something new, give your blog a new ‘look’ and think about the things you’d like to do in the year ahead.
And so on that optimistic note lets take a look at some new bloggers that have caught my eagle eye these past couple of weeks.
There’s a new kid on the block. When I say ‘kid’ I mean lady and when I say ‘the block’ I mean in Switzerland, which is where Three years, one stone then home is currently living before returning to North Wales. Father Christmas was kind to her and now she ‘has iPad, will blog‘. Try and take a minute to pop by and say hello to her – we all know how a bit of support in the early blogging days can make a huge difference.
From a brand new blogger to a slightly older blogger with a new blog name now. ‘I Want My Mummy‘ has arrived! The re-invention of Boo and Me, I Want My Mummy is a beautiful example of how the onset of a New Year brings a chance to reflect on your blog and develop it for the better. The New Years day post ‘Tears and Auld Lang Syne‘ moved me to tears, happy ones may I add.
A blogger who has been making New Years resolutions is Mother.Wife.Me who, faced with the realisation that she’s turning into one of those people who interrupts and finishes other peoples sentences has vowed no more “shut up I want to talk” !
One newer blogger who is kicking off the New Year in a refreshing an enthusiastic style is The Baby Wife with a 30 days, 30 posts challenge – think NaBloPoMo only without the frustratingly confusing title. She began on 30th December with an ‘Introducing Me‘ post and so if you haven’t read her blog before it’s a good post to have as a first read! I’m looking forward to see how she gets on!
Finally, last month you will no doubt remember the announcement that Ruby Wax has joined the great line up of speakers for BritMums Live! – I am still buzzing about that fantastic news! As if that wasn’t super enough BritMums then hosted a Q & A session with Ruby (which is well worth a read if you haven’t done so already).
Reading of the really worthwhile and inspirational work that Ruby’s mental health charity Black Dog Tribe inspired Cheetahs In My Shoes to write an emotionally compelling and honest post, Glittering Images, a courageous move by this newer blogger to discuss what is still sadly a taboo subject.
And that’s it from me for this week! If you find yourself sat down at a loose end or day dreaming in the bath take a moment to think about your blog and about new things that you may like to try on it this year. And then of course let us know about it! You can comment below or tweet us @BritMums or @MammasaurusBlog.
