March Crowd-sourced Positively Inspirational Round-up

inspirationalGood day friends, I hope you are well. I am so pleased we have reached March and it is now officially Spring, we might not yet have those glorious hot days but thankfully the sun is out more, the days are lengthening and the spring flowers are making me smile a lot.

This month I am crowd-sourcing the content for the Positively Inspirational round-up. I hope you enjoy the picks that Emma (Mama Syder) and I make each month but I think it is good to mix it up and ask other people what inspires them. I wanted to ensure we had lots of variety and not just self-promotion (although there is nothing wrong with that at times) so I asked people what they had read recently and been inspired by. Here is what they sent me –

Rachel at The Ordinary Lovely pointed me over to the Bright and Illustrious blog which is not somewhere I’ve visited before. Claire blogs about seven really simple things you can do to brighten your day. It is all too easy to get in a mood and to wallow in it, but if we just stop and look up our perspective can change immensley.

My heart melted a little as I read the post ‘Wishes for my eldest son’ by Capture by Lucy. She is so right, our children grow up far too fast and my JJ never calls me mummy or mama anymore, I am firmly Mum now. My cuddles have lessened and I get a hurried goodbye at school rather than a hug or kiss. You treasure those moments Lucy as they really are special. Thanks for this recommendation Debbie at An Organised Mess.

Probably the post I was touched most by was recommended by Ruth at DorkyMum, she pointed me over to the Brain, Child magazine blog. There I read a post by Kelly J Baker explaining how her daughter sees beauty in everyone and everything. Can you imagine how thrilled you would be if a little six-year old girl just randomly told you that you’re beautiful?

The post that Steph at Steph’s two girls recommended isn’t necessarily an easy read as you very quickly establish that life is tough for the blog author (another Steph). Her husband is undergoing intensive chemo at the moment and her daughter has some really serious medical issues but Steph talks positively of their plans to go to Glastonbury this June and I don’t think you can read her closing paragraph without being seriously inspired by her determination –

“There is no getting away from it, life is hard, it’s physically draining, it’s emotionally taxing, but we’re focused on the goal, getting Andy through the treatment and the cancer under control. There is no time to overthink the situation, frankly there is too much to do every day to sit and ponder on the cards that we have been dealt.  But even though the hand isn’t great we’re playing them to the best of our ability.”

Anya at Older Single Mum directed me to this post at the Larger Family life where Tania shares how her and her family might not be doing things the way that society expects them too but they are doing what is right for them and it is not always easy but it fits their plan and is the best thing for them. It is so interesting to get a glimpse into the life of a family with 13 children, such respect!

I’ll leave you with a couple of recommendations from me. In the last few months I have been doing a lot of personal work on self-acceptance, weight loss and who I am. I love this post from Pouting in Heels about how to fall in love with your body. It is such a great practical piece of writing where Katie shares the things she has learnt in life that help her to love herself just the way she is. I’ll also point you over to Faith Along the Way as this is a post about the same subject but written in quite a different way, reminding us who we are and what those lines on our face or baggy tummy means.

Wishing you a fabulous March, Emma will be back with you in April and I’ll catch you in May once the weather really has warmed up and I’ll be smiling ear to ear!

Be blessed, Mich x
