Welcome to the second BritMums LOL Round-up. A place to laugh at the often insane moments of parenting, and the beautifully illogical logic of our small people. Grab yourself a mulled wine and a mince pie (it’s officially December now, so you’re allowed) and get comfy for some funny reads from some brilliant bloggers.
First up is Anna from Mummy Muckups and her post, Playground Perils. Anna’s account of a visit to the playground with her two children and the stress that comes with it really made me laugh. What are you supposed to do when one child runs one way and the other runs another way? I guess you just have to pick your favourite, or the one that didn’t throw their porridge at you this morning. 😉
Next is the fabulous Katy from Carry On Katy. I am a huge fan of Katy’s blog and she never fails to make me laugh. Every single parent out there who has been conned into buying a kids surprise bag (that’s all of us, right?) will relate to her post, The Guy Who Taught Kids To Cry. Alan has a lot to answer for. Mainly tears and tantrums.
This Mum’s Life wrote a fantastic post called Who The Hell is Raisins? I love a post that puts things into perspective as well as giving me a good giggle. If you have ever worried over ‘helpful’ advice of the unsolicited kind, you should read this post. I think we all know a raisin in one form or another, even if at times it’s that voice inside our heads that only shuts up when we ply her with wine. *Takes another glug.
Mumma McD from Toilets Aren’t For Turtles made me laugh with her post, 10 Ways Life With Toddlers is Like Being at The Zoo. I often compare my small people to animals, “cheeky monkey,” “mucky pup.” At times they turn feral for reasons unbeknownst to me. Meal times in our house are often referred to as “Feeding Time At The Zoo.” Therefore I found myself vigorously nodding to all of the points Mumma McD makes.
And to finish up, a festive post from the brilliant Emma at Brummy Mummy of 2. Emma has been a good girl and written her letter to Father Christmas with her demands requests. Most of which are on my list too. Although prior to having small people these things wouldn’t have even crossed my mind! Check out Emma’s post All I Want For Christmas…
I will be back in the New Year with more funnies for you to enjoy. So until then Merry Christmas! Enjoy the month of beautifully behaved children, and guilt free bribery, and don’t sob too much at the nativity. About Claire Kirby
Claire is the blogger behind Life, Love and Dirty Dishes. A blog about the amusing side of parenting. Claire's claim to fame is that she once spoke to Phillip Schofield on a Going Live phone in. Awesome, right? She with three boys; The Husband, Big (9), who never ever stops talking, and Little (5), who never ever stands still. They live in a Lego house. They don’t really, but they have so much off the stuff they could probably build one.
