Keeping kids motivated for homeschooling and home learning can sometimes be a challenge – something as parents we know! To help keep kids age 7 to 11 motivated, Premiership Rugby has created fun free interactive online lessons to help keep children engaged with learning. This post is part of a sponsored campaign with Premiership Rugby, promoting its #LearnWithUs sessions.
The sessions – called Tackling Numeracy and Tackling Health – are short, lively and aimed at Key Stage 2 children.
Watch live on YouTube Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:00…or catch up later with the videos!
- What: Free fun interactive learning session
- When: Every Wednesday and Friday at 10am
- Where: The Premiership Rugby YouTube channel or on its site
What are the sessions like?
The #LearnWithUs sessions start with Morning Moves, a bit of activity incorporating rugby moves and warm-ups to get the blood flowing — for sprinting in place, we’re told ‘Imagine the opposition team is chasing you…and you need to run away as fast as you can!’ (This is good for learning: Studies show children respond faster and with greater accuracy to cognitive tasks after a session of physical activity.)
Kids do short writing tasks, answer challenge questions and are asked to do activities in their homes like find food in the fridge from the five food groups. All these are interspersed with high-quality video segments about health, maths and exciting clips of rugby naturally!
Best of all, they appeal to kids who love rugby but also those who can benefits from a fresh way to learn.
With reports of the decline in physical activity levels as well as learning in core subjects, lessons are designed to help reduce the impact further by making learning engaging and fun for parents and children alike.
‘Premiership Rugby is passionate about improving the lives and prospects of children and young people across England, using the power of rugby to inspire the current generation to learn, be active and to help them achieve their potential,’ says Wayne Morris, Premiership Rugby Community and CSR Director.
#LearnWithUs debuts new sessions every Wednesday and Friday on the Premiership Rugby YouTube channel through Winter term. Visit their channel now to watch existing video and subscribe for the upcoming ones!
