BritMums is pleased to announce that two lawyers from Kingsley Napley, Simon Halberstam and Andrew Solomon, will lead the Beginning Blogging Legal Essentials session at BritMums Live!
The session will cover:
- the basics of libel law
- issues related to reviewing products – i.e. are there things you can and cannot say about a product or company
- copyright for their content and what to do if somebody “steals” it
- online competitions
Simon Halberstam is a partner in Kingsley Napley’s corporate and commercial team, specialising in IT / IP Law. Before joining the firm in 2010, he previously worked at Sprecher Grier Halberstam LLP and Slaughter and May.
In recent years, both IP and IT have been evolving faster than the legal frameworks that regulate them, which makes an exciting but demanding area of law, as the conventional legal concepts are adapted to cope with new media and new concepts of intellectual property.
Simon is well known and highly respected in this complex field of law, and acts for IT providers, ISPs, Domain Name registrants and web designers. He also acts for users, providing legal advice to both the IBM Computer Users’ Association and SOCITM.
Andrew Solomon joined Kingsley Napley in 2008 as a trainee solicitor, having previously spent a year as a paralegal in the corporate department of Ashurst LLP. He qualified in September 2010 after seats in Corporate and Commercial, Employment, Private Client and Family.
Prior to this, he studied American History at Sussex University (including a year spent at the University of California, Irvine), before embarking on the GDL and LPC at the University of Westminster.
Andrew specialises in advising companies and entrepreneurs on corporate transactions and commercial matters, often dealing with companies in the technology sector.
