Home and Design Round-up: The Festive Home

Are you starting to feel festive yet? I know I am, but then I’m trying to be organised for once and get lots of jobs done before the end of November. Wish me luck! For the round-up this month I thought it would be …. To bring you some Christmas inspiration in terms of preparing your home for the festivities and creating a beautifully decorated festive interiors.

Lots of us like to decorate our homes in the run up to Christmas. With the family visiting it’s the perfect time to add some new wallpaper, splash on a bit of fresh paint or get the carpets cleaned. Penny at Alexander Residence has been doing just that, and has this fabulous map wallpaper hung in her hallway. What a great first impression that will make to guests. Jenni over at Ginger Bisquite has put together a very stylish Moodboard for her Mid Century inspired dining renovations. Can’t wait to see what it all looks like when it’s finished. The Design Sheppard has been looking at modern home accessories and giving them some creative styling. One or two new things for the home can really bring it to life at Christmas.

So if the home is starting to look the part what about getting organised with the decorations? Tidy Away Today is running a great series of posts encouraging us to get organised for Christmas. You can follow along and share your preparations with her. With 1^st December looming how are you getting along with your Advent calendar preparations? Do you like them to look stylish and fit in with your decorating style? Heather at Growing Spaces has done a fabulous roundup of handmade, very stylish Advent Calendars that will fill you with inspiration. She’s not the only showcasing advent ideas. Look at this wonderful homemade advent calendar from Amanda at the Ana Mum Diary too. You are such a creative lot!

Lots of you like to craft for Christmas, and creating something fun and handmade for the Christmas home is very popular. Check out this wonderful Christmas sun catcher from Here Come the Girls and Jenny has crafted these lovely glass bottle Christmas trees which would make a lovely homemade decoration. Thinly Spread is running a popular linky called Festive Friday where you can link up your Christmas related posts. Her recent Tin Can Lanterns would look magical at Christmas, and I’m feeling inspired to give these a go! Also Ali at Kids’ Chaos has made a very cool vintage style leaf wreath which I love. Of course, creating your own Christmas decorations is a lovely way to keep down the cost of Christmas which Becky at Thrifty Home is only too aware of. Her post on how to save money on your Christmas Tree has some creative and very helpful ideas.

And finally perhaps you have been wondering what styles and looks to go for with your Christmas decorations? As it’s a little early to see blog posts with decorated homes, I thought you would like to see Bright Bazaar’s Christmas Decorating looks for inspiration. I’m sure you’ll find one there you like. As for me, well I’ve been looking at a few things Christmas related including a roundup of the best Christmas Twig Trees available. They’re not for everyone perhaps, but are striking and modern and just a little bit different.
