Good Reads: Parenthood, wrapping paper and life changing trips

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmaaaaasssss. Aren’t you just a little excited? No? Well, obviously not: there are just days until the schools break up so you need to make the most of your time alone. So forget about Christmas cards and wrapping presents and queuing in the Post Office to pick up a parcel that they ‘tried to deliver’ whilst you were actually in. Put the kettle on and allow me to take you on a tour of some of the wonders  there are to read over on that interweb thing.

• Mummy from the Heart looks back on a life-changing trip to Ethiopia with #ONEMums. There’s nothing like visiting another community to make you  realise how lucky you are to have what you do.
• Curly and Candid talks about teaching your children the importance of savings and hamsters. As you do. This is very pertinent for our house-hold this week as My Girls are very keen to spend their ‘own’ money.
• Mother’s Always Right makes an important point to PRs about the benefits of working with bloggers and how reading blogs makes her spend money. Don’t I know it?
• The Imagination Tree blog is an amazing resource, and never was that more apparent than in this fantastic list of Top Toys for Babies and Toddlers. If you are shopping for young children ahead of Christmas, make sure you read this first.
• On the subject of Christmas, American in Budapest wrote the most incredible post about wrapping paper. Have your hankies on standby as this post will have you sobbing.
• After that you’ll be in need of a laugh, and Her Pretty has just the ticket: her top ten reasons for having a baby. I particularly like number 3.
• Muddling Along Mummy writes many thought-provoking posts. This one on parenthood makes you think.
• Another fantastic post recommending that Bloggers be careful what they wish for from Mummy from the Heart.
• The Mummy Returns had me laughing till I cried with her rules of toddlerhood.
• Meanwhile BigWords has been writing about how you know when you are done.
• And My Mumdom wonders what your children call you.
• But to round off with a more festive post, there’s Recipes from a Normal Mum, who has some fabulous Rudolph Morsels to share: perfect for the last few days before Christmas.

Laughter, gratitude and a healthy helping of festive food: that’s what Christmas is all about, no?
