Sup. How are we all? So, Wednesday has rolled around again and I’m still without my beloved Mac … (168 hours if you’re remotely interested). I’ve managed to sneak on my Other Half’s laptop while he puts Skig to bed so let’s see just how nimble my fingers are. Aaaaand … go!
My first choice is the beautiful Mostly Yummy Mummy who wrote about how she’s gone into hibernation mode now the nights are drawing in. As I sit here with my old-man PJs on, wrapped tightly in a faux fur sofa throw, looking really attractive, I can totally relate. I especially loved the photo she used for ‘Bye Bye Mojo – Hello Sofa.’
I can’t help but include a post by Fran at Motherventing. Not content with writing about bumholes, she’s now writing about how she wants to shout, “PENIS!” very loudly in the middle of church halls. In, ‘I should not be allowed out, quite frankly,’ Fran lists the things she’s tempted to do whilst out in public (but promises us she won’t). I can’t begin to tell you the rest of the list (without gagging at one in particular) but it’s definitely worth a read.
On a more serious note, some of you may be aware of Tamsyn’s heartbreaking situation over at Anecdotes of a Manic Mum. Her husband Alex is in hospital recovering from a tragic rugby injury he incurred earlier this year. Tamsyn has taken to writing letters to Alex in the hope that he will one day be able to read them. Quite where this mum of four gets the strength to carry on every day, I don’t know, but please take the time to read ‘Dear Alex, one of my letters to you that you will read one day,’ and follow their story over at the website Tamsyn’s sister has created – Making Waves for Alex.
My next post is very apt as it’s all about faith and can be found at VegemiteVix. In ‘Faith, Hope, Love,’ she talks about an inspirational poster she had on her wall as a teenager showing the sun peeking from behind a cloud and how now, even when the sun’s not shining, we all need to hold on to the thought that as tough as things get, the sun is shining somewhere and that things are going to be alright.
In ‘Having My Cake,’ Garry over at Blog Up North shares with us how his Mum finally hung up her apron earlier this year but after seeing his sad little face at the thought of having no more spice loaves, she went out and bought enough ingredients to bake two more cakes, just for him. I miss my Mum’s cooking so much that it was nice to think of a Mum somewhere, even at 74 years young, baking for her son just to put a smile on his face. (NB: If anyone, at any time, wants to send me cake … feel free. Seriously.)
The title of this next post certainly caught my attention. In ‘The calm before being piss wrapped,’ JoJo, from JoJo’s So Called Life, explains how her life is very calm right now but wonders if it will last. The phrase ‘piss wrapped’ is a Lancashire colloquialism apparently! So going to use that from now on.
Heidi from Him Me Three, openly discusses her battle with depression and, following the tragic death of Gary Speed last week, also talks candidly about thoughts of suicide in her post, ‘Depression and suicide: My story,’ The subject is getting a lot of press attention right now which can only be a good thing and I would implore anyone suffering to seek help. I was so impressed by Heidi’s bravery in admitting how she has felt in the past that I thought it really deserved a mention here.
One of my favourite bloggers, Elsie from Babylon Lane Tales, (not only because she was brave enough to share a hotel room with me at the MAD awards, but she’s also an amazing writer,) has been baking Christmas cakes with her daughter this week using what has to be THE biggest mixing bowl in the history of … well … mixing bowls. Very poignant, nostalgic post with typical Elsie flair.
Nablopomo is coming to an end and I have to give massive props to everyone who wrote a post a day for November. I’m not that disciplined unfortunately – more of a ‘blog as the mood takes me’ kinda gal. Over at Actually Mummy, there has been a difference of opinion on the subject between mother and daughter – I wonder who won?
Finally, I thought I’d leave you with some beautiful photographs I came across at Five Go Blogging. In ‘Walk with me a while,’ Alison takes us on a journey of where she lives and shows us some beautiful sights. Ducks are brilliant, right?!
So that’s that. All typed up before my Other Half has finished reading Harry Potter to our youngest. Result. Reckon I might have time for a bit of Tweeting while I’m on here! Bye for now. (Notice I didn’t do the annoying Bruce Forsythe ‘Keeeeeep bloggging!’ catchphrase!)
About Kate Sutton

Thanks so much for the mention. It was probably one of the most difficult posts that I have ever written but I actually felt so much better for writing it. The response has been amazing and it has encouraged others to open up and admit that they too have felt the same. Some have only admitted it to me but I know just how much of a big step that is. Thanks again x
