Gardening Round-up: Which season is it?

This is the time of year when all the new shoots and buds are supposed to be appearing, but this year, something has gone completely wrong with the weather, I woke up this morning to my roof covered in snow! But, not to fear I have a great round-up to keep your enthusiasm for the garden, and to get you green fingers busy.

Our garden update is going well, in fact, so well I haven’t had time to even write about it yet, the wooden greenhouse, is up, painted and full of lovely vegetable seeds, and a few little shoots are starting to peep through, the strawberries have been moved to their new home and the beans and peas are all ready for planting (although i’m glad I decided to wait a little longer).

It’s so important to get the children involved, the earlier the better, I can remember helping my dad with the vegetable patch when I was small and I think that is where my love of it came from. Wellies On The School Run tells us about their first kitchen garden experiment, Our Fairytale Adventure gives us advice on creating a sensory garden for children. Emma Reed posted about The importance of Getting Kids Gardening and Kids Garden Ideas, meanwhile Boo Roo and Tigger Too are getting the kids growing their own fruit and veg, my Bored toddler has been making a Wheelbarrow Herb Garden, over at Growing Family, they are Growing Sunflowers with Children, meanwhile, over at Daisies and Pie they are showing us how to make a Milk Bottle Watering Can.

I am great at growing outside, but houseplants are always a disaster, so I shall definitely be trying out Midwife and Lifes post on 6 simple hacks to make your houseplants bloom, anyone else struggle with houseplants ?

As my greenhouse is brand new, it is very clean at the moment, but it will obviously get dirty over time, so this post from Life at 139A – A Sparkling Clean Greenhouse is perfect.
