Fun ways you can help children at Christmas

Camila Batmanghelidjh, inspirational founder of Kids Company and speaker at BritMums Live!

The charity Kids Company is hosting a Christmas Day party for thousands of kids who might otherwise spend Christmas Day alone. Volunteers cook a Christmas dinner for an incredible 3,500 kids and put together food packages for another 4000!

Many of these disadvantaged children have suffered terrible neglect. This charity provides support for these children throughout the year and hosts this amazing Christmas party during the holiday season.

There are several fun ways you can support this Christmas party:

Go shopping in London this weekend!

Oxford and Regent Streets will be completely pedestrianized (traffic free shopping!) on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th December and every time shoppers use their Amex card at retailers in the area over the weekend, American Express will donate £1 to Kids Company.

To complete the festive mood, don’t miss the 30-hour, Christmas Carol-A-Thon, also raising money for Kids Company.

Can’t make it to London?

Check out the Kids Company website and Kids Company Facebook page!

Not only can you learn more about Kids Company’s work throughout the year, supporting kids through meals, activities, and counselling, you can also donate to the Christmas Party on their website and Facebook page.

Actually, you really do have to check out the cute Christmas Party donation app on their Facebook page where you can choose what you want to donate. Move your curser over each item—stockings, crackers, Christmas pudding and so on and hear children’s voices getting excited about each!

Watch this video from the Kids Company founder, Camila Batmanghelidjh, to hear more about the Christmas party and how it will help these children. Our very own Jen at Jenography met Camila a couple of weeks ago to learn more about Kids Company and don’t miss Camila and our other fabulous speakers at BritMums Live! next June. I’m really looking forward to hearing this inspiring woman speak.
