Anyone with school age children will by now have waved their little ones (or not so little ones) off to school and be back in the swing of the school runs once more. If you are anything like me, you may be caught out by how exhausting those first few weeks getting back in the routine can be.
This month’s Foodie RoundUp is all about celebrating those quick and easy meals that are perfect for the autumn term – They need to be filling enough to fill those tummies when they come home from school STARVING! but need to be on the table with the minimum of fuss. I know that my Homemade Pot Noodle tends to make an appearance regularly at this time of year.
This time of year also sees slow cookers coming out if they have had a summer break – Baking Queen 74 has compiled a list of her 8 favourite Back-to-School Slow Cooker Recipes if you need some inspiration.
We all know how important it is to give our children the right start to the day with a proper breakfast, Mr & Mrs T Plus Three has shared the recipe for her Wholegrain Apple & Cinnamon Breakfast Loaf for a quick and easy start to the day.
JuggleMum gives us tips on achieving the perfect morning routine whilst filling up on our 5-a-day in her Breakfast Pancakes post.
For a tasty dish with a kick yet suitable for all the family, try Mummy V’s Work’s Thai Green Chicken Curry.
We have another spicy yet hearty evening meal suggestion from JuggleMum with her Chocolate Chilli Con Carne – This one can even be made diet friendly for those people who are watching their weight.
Sticking with the spicy theme, we have Family Fever’s One Pot Bombay Potatoes – Great for introducing spice to the younger members of the family but with the added bonus of One Pot convenience.
One of the best things about this time of year is the influx of blackberries – there is no more comforting a dessert than a simple crumble. Coffee Sleep Work Repeat has shared a wonderful Blackberry & Apple Crumble for those autumn nights.
An Organised Mess also has a perfect recipe for After-School Snacks with her Blackberry & Almond Muffins.
Lets not forget packed lunches – We have some seriously creative BritMums members who excel at filling those brand new lunch boxes. The ultimate queen of making packed lunches fun has got to be Eats Amazing – Grace has shared suggestions for a full week of Easy Funny Face Lunches.
So that’s the Foodie RoundUp for this month – I’l be back in October with the best of your Autumn and Halloween Foodie posts – Feel free to add to the linky below for consideration into the RoundUp. Have a great month!
