Foodie Round-up: Autumn & Halloween

Foodie Round-up: Autumn & Halloween

That has got to be the quickest month ever! It seem only minutes ago that we were waving the kids back into school for the new school year and here we are in (almost) mid-October with delicious recipes oozing with seasonal veg!

Autumn is definitely my favourite season – Sweet Potatoes, Butternut Squash and of course, Pumpkins are everywhere. Sadly our local allotment was hit badly by the storms earlier in the year meaning this year I might actually have to buy our vegetables but there are plenty of inviting recipes around to make the trip worth it.

More Than Just Carrots shares Roasted Butternut Squash & Mackerel CousCous showing that autumn food needn’t have to be served hot.

The Veg Space served an alternative to traditional lasagne with her Butternut Squash & Creamy Pesto Vegetarian Lasagne

This Sweet Potato Gnochi from Kiddielicious Kitchen has the most beautiful colours.

I’m loving the abundance of beetroot on offer too – Tin & Thyme has made the most of it with her beautiful Beetroot Chutney recipe.

Soup definitely makes a come back at this time of year – perfect for warming up after those Trick or Treat sessions – I always have a batch of my Sweet Potato Thai Soup ready every autumn.

This Pumpkin, Ginger & Coconut Soup from Honest Mum will liven up a dreary autumn day.

I love the vibrant green of My Fussy Eater’s Green Goblin Halloween Spinach Soup.

Keeping with the Halloween theme, we also have Easy Halloween Spider Pizza by The Gingerbread House.

Fun for even the youngest of kitchen helpers, Easy Chocolate Ghosts from Kerry Cooks.

There’s a wonderful wealth of apple recipes across the food blogging world this month too:

Caramel Apple Popcorn from A Strong Coffee.

Toffee Apple Candy Chocolate Tiffin from Jam & Clotted Cream.

And the ultimate in warming comfort food from Farmer’s Wife ad Mummy Sticky Sausage and Winter Slaw

If you need yet more inspiration Munchies & Munchkins has collated a fabulous list of 9 Perfectly Autumnal Recipes

And that’s the Round-up for this month, I’ll be back in November with a Round-up of recipes featuring Fruit &/or Vegetables – They don’t have to be vegetarian but fruit or veg needs to be the star of the show!

Feel free to contact me with any recipes you would like to share or add your link to the widget below. Have a great month & watch out for the new Baking Round-Up hosted by Kirsty coming later this month!

I love sweet potato soup - sweet potato and lemongrass, sweet potato and chilli, sweet potato and anything really! Thanks for the steer towards your sweet potato Thai soup - it sounds delicious and definitely one to try.

My favourite recipe involving butternut squash has to be Jamie Olivers Jools Favourite Stew recipe, or as I like to call it boozy beef stew as it has lashings of red wine. It is just perfect for this time of year!
