Family Days Out Round-up: Welcome to 2017!

Happy New Year! It almost feels too late to be saying that, however we are just three weeks in to 2017 and you have all amazed me with your adventures so far this year.

I don’t know about you, but we have made a ‘bucket list’ of places we want to go to and things we want to see and we have started the year as we mean to go on with a trip on the Bournemouth Wheel which gave us a panoramic view over our home town.

Many businesses close down for January until half term, so this month has seen so many of you heading out into nature’s playground to get the kids outside and having fun.

Starting us off are North East Family Fun who enjoyed a very muddy trip to Plessey Woods in Northumberland, such a shame they didn’t bump into the resident ogre, but I did like the wooden drum kit idea. Baby Foote enjoyed an afternoon at Washington Wetlands where they not only got to see the birds, but some cute Otters as well and Over 40 Mum to One headed to Kent to explore Bodiam Castle with Monkey.

Continuing the winter walk theme, Bubba Blue and Me enjoyed a stroll around Stowe Gardens, we explored the stunning gardens of Kingston Maurward, Bridie by the Sea enjoyed a visit to Spring Barn Farm, Yorkshire Tots visited Saltaire, enjoying a rather chilly picnic by the canal, Podcast Dove had a frosty visit to Alice Holt and Blog Bay Bee had lots of fun on the play trail at Stoke Park Woods.

We adore the beach at winter as it is mostly empty and you can still enjoy playing in the sand, even if the water is too cold for a paddle. Yorkshire Tots enjoyed a spot of treasure hunting on Fraisthorpe Beach, Cardiff Mummy recommends 25 free winter walks in and around Cardiff, I quite fancy Barry Island myself, Mum Turned Mom headed to her favourite beach, Mums Blind Love enjoyed a visit to Torquay and Our Footprints on the World took their puppy for its first walk on the beach.

I was slightly gutted that we didn’t get any snow, but it looks like those of you that did have been making the most of it. I love Once Upon a Time’s snowy fun on their snow scooters and The Ladybirds Adventures did some snow painting. We made up for the lack of snow watching people getting cold and wet during Poole’s Annual Bathtub race though.

Of course there are some indoor activities open too and trampoline parks are popular with visits to Urban Jump by Juggling Skates and Activate Trampoline Park in Dorset by us.

Thank you for everyone who submitted posts for this month’s round-up. Any Christmas themed ones have been saved for later in the year when people start their Christmas planning.

Next month’s theme is half term fun, however if you have any other posts from January, please link them up here:

We only had snow for a few hours, hoping that we’ll get some more this year… Half term would be perfect
