I’ve mentioned before that the greatest environmental benefits are at the top of the waste hierarchy. So, Jen at My Make, Do and Mend Life questions why there is a focus on recycling which is near the bottom of the hierarchy in The war on waste is great, but aren’t we all missing the point?
Here are some suggestions to reduce waste:
- Maggy at Red Ted Art explains How to remove sticky labels from glass jars an essential step when reusing jars
- Liz at Me and My Shadow describes how to Make a mosaic crockery tray from found treasure
- Wendy at Daisies and Pies has been making Juice bottle herb planters for kids
- A Greener Life for Us has created a summer game Upcycling tin can project – kick the can
If you are motivated to reduce your waste, be inspired during Zero Waste Week which takes place 5th – 9th September, and while you’re on the site, check out the Supporters as you may recognise some of this year’s Ambassadors.
Of course, improving the environment is not just about reducing waste. The Real Meal Deal writes about Great Meat Free BBQ ideas and Zoe at Eco Thrifty Living has written about Wildlife in or garden and easy ways to help your local wildlife!
Thank you to everyone who sent me posts. Please send me links to your environmental posts for the next round-up via my blog or tweet me @katedavis. Alternatively, let me know if you have any questions about the environment and I’ll answer them in future posts.
