I have really enjoyed putting together my first BritMums Education Round-up. As an ex-teacher, now with two children of my own going through the state school system, I find the whole subject of how and where we teach our children fascinating.
As this was my first month I didn’t set a theme; I wanted to discover as many new blogs as possible (so thank you to all who put posts forward for me to read) and have thoroughly enjoyed devouring each article sent my way.
I started with Emma’s musings on faith schools and the place of collective worship in modern schooling. Emma brings up some very interesting points, and, as you will see from the comments, this is a subject that many feel strongly about.
It was also wonderful to read about how the first term of a new school year had gone for children (and parents), especially from Soyna who has three different stages of education to navigate at once and Becky who wrote so beautifully about how to support an anxious child through starting school.
Finally for this month I wanted to share a couple of my favourite home education bloggers and their reasons for this choice. There is Jess, whose blogs I have followed for years, giving a great update of how Home Ed is going on 8 months in, and Kelly, who has not looked back since de-registering her children from mainstream education.
It has been great to discover so many new blogs, and look at so many different views and approaches to the way in which we chose to educate our children here in the UK and abroad.
