Dad Bloggers Round-up: Fashionable, fit & zombies

It is interesting how relatively small changes can have a radical effect on your life as a parent.  In my case the return of my wife to university, meaning that my household duties have increased somewhat, and the progression of our eldest daughter to high school, have caused a pretty manic month.  Actually the high school thing has probably been the main cause, something that I have written about, expressing my surprise, read stupidity, when I eventually realised that girls are different to boys when it comes to making this transition.

Anyway the knock on effect is that I now have the responsibility of getting the children off to school on my own, something which is as strange for them as it is for me, probably because my wife is so much better at these sort of things than me.  Jeremy, who writes Dad Etc, was in fact compiled a completely accurate list, well they all apply to me anyway, which goes someway to explaining why the children find life slightly more difficult when I am in charge.  This includes everything from presents to fashion and can be read here.

While on the subject of fashion, something I do not fully understand apparently having grown up in the seventies, maybe now would be a good time to point you in the direction of a fabulous blog by Bass Pryce who seems to have a better understanding of these things than me.  Actually he appears to have such a good grasp, particularly the benefits of wearing tartan, that it has so far required two posts on his blog, 13 Unlucky For Some Parents.

Moving on, which seems like a good idea, it appears that September saw another of this year’s momentous anniversaries, that’s right two years of Diary of the Dad.  Tom happens to be one of the bloggers who I have met in real life, as opposed to virtually, and it really is good to see what a success his blog has become and continues to be, particularly as he is a thoroughly nice chap.  In honour of reaching this landmark he decided to give some thought to how he picked out the title of his blog, it’s got something to do with zombies apparently.

Really it would have been ideal to end on zombies, but having recently discovered Pirata’s Tales, written by Richard, I thought it would be nice to point you in its direction.  Actually just reading it leaves me quite breathless, not just because of how well put together it is, but because of the sheer amount that this family manage to fit into their lives.  It may be that I am just too disorganised, or possibly lazy, to even think about doing more than one activity in a day, but it sure is fun reading about someone who can do it, fantastic stuff.

So there you have it fashionable, fit and zombies, just a normal month in dad land, see you all next month.
