Dad blogger Round-up: No Christmas spirit

This month’s dad blog round up is not what I planned. I was going to trawl the Internet for blog posts all about Christmas.

To my surprise, I struggled to find any. For whatever reason, us dad bloggers just don’t seem to be in the Christmas spirit yet! In the absence of Christmas-themed blogs, here are some posts that caught my eye.

Those unfamiliar with Lewis of Dadwhoblogs (@dadwhoblogs) are missing a treat. This chap writes about his family and kids with incredible devotion and emotion. Unfortunately there’s been some trauma recently as Lewis’s son had a nasty knee infection.

At first glance this may not sound too serious, but the little blighter’s been in and out of hospital repeatedly for surgery and goodness knows what else. Lewis has written a marvellous tribute to his son listing all the various procedures he’s had. Read it and try not to well up.

Should you ever wish to annoy a stay at home father, go up to one of his children and pointedly ask where his/her mother is. It’s a situation I’ve found myself in many times and it’s deeply irritating. Martyn (@Mr_Kitney) from Insidemartynsmind recently had to deal with just this scenario when he took one of his little ones to hospital. Martyn was duly insulted and you can read about it here.

Over at Dustandlove (@Dustandlove), Sam Coleman has been seeing red after witnessing some very bad parenting. It’s quite a challenging blog post to read as Sam makes clear he’s witnessed people striking, screaming and swearing at their offspring. It’s a thought provoking read, if not a cheery one.

I will end with the one Christmas-themed blog post I did come across. It comes courtesy of Ben Wakeling (@benwakeling) at Goodbyepertbreasts. In a non-stop romp, he takes us from the sex education lessons he received at school through to the idea that Father Christmas might, just possibly, not actually be real while making clear his dislike of know it all kids. It’s very funny, but don’t read it if there are young children present.
