This Friday 13th December sees the annual Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day when we are all encouraged to Make the World Better with a Sweater and BritMums will be there in all our glittery finery!
With so many of us being work at home and stay at home parents we haven’t got an opportunity to show off our kitsch knitwear and share a bit of festive frivolity, so BritMums are joining in the fun for a gigantic Christmas Jumper Day Twitter party on Friday. It will be hosted by Chris Mosler of Thinly Spread and Save the Children and will run from 1-2pm – hoorah!
How Can You Join In With #XmasJumperDay?
- Buy, borrow or make your own Christmas jumper ready for Friday 13th
- Join us at 1pm, wearing your Christmas Jumper with a twinkle in your eye and, maybe, some festive nibbles!
- Take a selfie and share it on Twitter then have a nice natter about all things Christmas – pop it on instagram to0!
- Pay your pound! Text TEAMTHINLYS to 70050 or pay in here
- Use the hashtag for all your #XmasJumperDay tweets so we can see them, get the whole family involved!
What Happens to the Money? What is Christmas Jumper Day?
You give a pound or more, it helps children – simple! 99p of every pound donated will go straight towards helping children and even £1 is a powerful thing, it can buy:
- one day’s high-nutrient food to help treat a severely malnourished child
- nine sachets of oral rehydration treatment for children suffering from life-threatening diarrhoea
- antibiotics to treat three newborn babies with potentially deadly infections
Christmas Jumper Day is an annual fundraiser organised by Save the Children, celebrating the festive season and raising money at the same time. Celebrities have been sporting kitsch woollies, top designers have joined in, John Lewis are selling jumpers with £25 of the price going to Save the Children and Woolly Wonderland has been drawing the crowds, for more details look here.
See you there!
