Style Round-up

Style Round-upHello to you all and thank you for taking the time to take a look at this post, in which I do a round up of the fashion blogs that I have been reading this month.

First of all though, I would like to say huge congratulations to Amanda Start, The Online Stylist, for winning the award in the “Style” Category at the Bibs. A much deserved winner, not only does she do a fantastic job of running the Online Stylist but she is a lovely lady too. May her blog continue on its journey to dizzying heights!

Fashion and style blogs cover such a broad spectrum. There are bloggers who write about designer brands and bloggers who write about high-street or budget brands.

Some blogs specalise in street style and some in style at the school gates. Some blogs feature outfits that the writer is wearing, whilst other bloggers couldn’t be more horrified at the thought! Many are aimed at women in their 20’s and a growing number are aimed at women who are no longer in their 20’s – or perhaps even their 30’s! Some aim to provide inspiration, others escapism, to those who are reading them.
If you are interested in style and fashion there will be a blog, or more possibly many blogs, which are for you. It’s just a case of finding them. However there isn’t really “one size fits all” when it comes to blogs so I have included a variety of different styles of blogs and hopefully you there will be something for everyone.

Nicola over at Worn out and Wonderful writes about quick Style Fixes for Busy Mums. I loved her post about British Homes Stores. Its once very strong presence on the High Street has diminshed over the years and it is probably now best known for its lighting range and reasonably priced school uniform. Nicola writes about the gems she found when taking a trip there recently. She has also written recently about stylish raincoats, quick power dressing and she has also included a lovely shot of Roger Federer in a suit. What’s not to love?

Joanna at Poppy’s Style blogs about fashion, family, friends and fun. She left the UK in 2000 and now lives in Atlanta. She charts her journey through family life with sections on her blog dealing with Family, Lifestyle, Music and Running. She misses home but loves where she is now. Joanna’s zest for life is conveyed brilliantly through her writing.

I met Wendy from Thankfifi earlier this year at an awards ceremony. Her husband was there with his ever present camera on his shoulder. Wendy always looks amazing and with a fantastic sense of style, I am sure that we can all take inspiration from her outfits. I am very happy to admit to being just a weeny bit envious of the calm and ordered life it looks as though she leads (and the time she has to devote to Thankfifi!) which is reflected in her beautiful blog.

Emma at Fashion Mommy is like a fashion whirlwind, flitting from one fashion event to the next, whilst in between blogging about what Kate Middleton is wearing to a wedding (and where to find similar outfits), to the best buys in the Clarks sale and Celebrity Style Updates. How she has time to do everything I am not quite sure – she must be one busy lady!

Finally, Lily over at LLYMLRS is a young, hugely successful and very down to earth fashion blogger. Very much a personal style blog, it’s great to see how she puts her outfits together and her nail art is amazing! Despite having over 14,000 members Lily is very modest and, aside from looking at her outfits, the FAQ’s section on her blog is definitely worth reading.

That’s all for this round-up, please add your fashion and style posts to the Linky below and let’s start shouting out for Yummy Mummy’s up and down the land to join us on becoming a smarter nation

About Beth Goodrham

Beth is a stylist, fashion blogger, wife and Mum to three children. In 2010, realising that there were very few women over a “certain age” (that being 40), posting pictures of what they were wearing on a daily basis, Beth started her popular Style Guile blog. By cleverly mixing pieces from various high street stores, together with the odd designer piece, she brings you accessible, practical, affordable, fashion. Although a serious business, Beth doesn’t take fashion too seriously and is happy to post outfit “misses” as well as “hits”. Beth was delighted when Style Guile was short-listed for the Marie Claire Magazine fashion blog of the year award.
