LOL Round-up: Laugh out Loud – or just quietly to yourself.

I thought it would be nice to showcase a few new bloggers this month. Yes I know there’s a separate blog for that, but it’s bizarre how themes kind of create themselves and a lot of the suggestions this time round are from newer bloggers. (I’m not going to say which are which) – and absolutely none are about the jubilee so there you are! You are hereby given notice that I would REALLY like some funny Jubilee-related posts next month!

Although this round up is called Laugh Out Loud, I find a lot of the best posts elicit more of a long, drawn out chuckle of recognition. This from Claire, the mother of two boys, does just that: 10 Confessions of an Imperfect parent

Similarly anyone who has ever picked up their kids – or anyone else’s – from school will relate to this. And thank you to Sarah at Mum of Three World for introducing me to a term that I didn’t know existed. Arsenic Hour. Read this and weep as they say…

Next comes a warning from Northern Mum to non parents about what parenting is really like – -hilarious and painfully true. Sadly the advice is probably rather too late for most people hanging around on Britmums! The Oracle of Parenting

This one from My mumdom again has universal appeal as she gets trapped by her bra – Woman vs Sportsbra

I had a similar experience with an overtight swimsuit – but then the whole experience of going swimming tends to be quite dramatic when I’m involved as you may remember. If not, my so called friends find this episode where I was ‘hit on’ despite my droopy swimwear ,especially funny. Deaf and Dumb or Sex and the Swimmers

The Diary of a Milkshake Mummy is very amusing, if you are past the stage of potty training, and I particularly liked the title and theme of this post: a family day out we can all relate to. 1066 had nothing on my boys

El and Jae are a mother and daughter team ,who have a rather out there sense of humour, which I think could get a cult following. This may make you laugh or just leave you puzzled…but it’s certainly different. Beards and Moustaches

Talking of boobs – which El and Jae are briefly – this post from Kate on Thin Ice is the kind of smutty humour I absolutely abhor. But as it made me laugh ( only partly from the shock!) it’s here, to bring a smile to your faces too. The Best Part of Me

Again this one from Jodiekins is something we can all relate to. Or is it just me that comes over all 1950s when it comes to stains on my children’s clothing? I just cannot abide it. But once more it is the photo that sums it up and really made me laugh! Boys Will Be Boys

But the image of Stressy Mummy’s legs looking like chunky uncooked chips is, while a little over self critical, I feel, so vivid that she doesn’t need a photo. And I think the post deserves inclusion for the brilliance of this phrase alone . Also this post has nothing about kids really and is something many of us will relate to simply a people who don’t work out at the gym twice a day and so whose bodies, frankly, could be in better shape. I’m going to end on this one from Yummy Mummy Really. Because as well as painting a lovely picture of being a victim of a 3 year’s sense of humour, the post also includes a link-up where you can add the funny things your own children have said – and so keep those laughs going for weeks to come.
