To inspire you at BritMums Live, we’re asking 3 very special people to tell us their story, in short inspirational bursts.
New this year: Inspirational Shorts
Inspirational Shorts will be short 10-minute talks throughout the weekend to inspire, involve and move us. It’s a way for us to do something we’ve been thinking about for a while, which is highlight some of issues and stories that we feel passionately about.
So without further ado, we announce our first Inspirational Short, drawn directly from the BritMums community: Victoria Wright.
Victoria Wright is a disability and disfigurement rights campaigner. She is a Campaigns Officer at the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, co-running the Trailblazers network of young disabled people who campaign on social issues (www.mdctrailblazers.org). She is also a freelance writer and has written for the Independent and the BBC. She is a regular guest presenter of Disability Now’s monthly podcast. Victoria has also dabbled in acting and won the Creative Diversity Network award for Best Onscreen Performance in 2010 for her role in the Channel 4 drama series Cast Offs. Her personal experience of living with a severe facial disfigurement – she has a rare genetic condition called Cherubism – informs all her work and she is particularly passionate about improving the lives of disabled children and young people. She lives in London with her 3 year old daughter.
