Good Reads: Back at School, an empty nest and stop apologising!

good readsSeptember is all about going back: Back to School, back to work, back to the normal routine, looking back on a great summer holiday and missing it when the alarm clocks goes off at silly o’clock and it is pouring with rain. And if you have been sending your child off to school for the first time, or to a new school, a bigger school or *whispers* actual grown-up University-type educational scenarios, then you probably spend a lot of time looking back at their little lives and making remarks such as: “it only seems like yesterday” and “where has the time gone?” just like our mothers did about us.

So September BritMums Good Reads are all about distraction.

Except maybe this one from Not Another Mummy Blog, sparkly new school-run-mum on the block, and 10 things she has learned after a week of being a school mum. Back to School Grief from Domestic Goddesque is all about the looking back. As is Amy Ransom with her post on 10 things you can do with an empty nest. Hot drinks!

But now, we move forward:

Wit Wit Woo exhorts us to Stop Apologising

The splendidly monochrome Oh So Amelia site shares scheduling tools we should all be using

Best Dad I Can Be shares tales of First World Problems.

Juggle Mum offers a Parent’s Guide to the Social Networks your children are using.

Rosalilium asks is there any point in blogging anymore?

The Parent Crap writes on the Utter Uselessness of Parent Shaming.

And Lulastic offers 30 Days of Rewilding as a way to find your place in nature and watch your family bloom.

If you find a post that you think would make a perfect addition to the #BritMumsGoodReads monthly round-up then do tweet DomesticGoddesq using the hashtag, and you may find it on this page next month, with a link crediting your fabulous find.

Thanks for reading.

About Kelly Innes

Kelly is the face behind the vintage silhouette at Domestic Goddesque. She eats too much cookie dough to have a waist that small. She is a thirty-something Mother of two absurdly photogenic little girls, is married her beloved DH and endures daily battles-of-will with the dog she refers to as the Wonder Hound. She likes to avoid housework as much as possible, preferring to bake, craft and drink cocktails. Sorry, did I say cocktails? I meant coffee. And nap. She likes to nap too. When not blogging, you can find her haunting Facebook for interesting snippets of gossip, or throwing her wit around the twittersphere. (She may have made that last bit up too: she's not that funny.)
