Good Reads

This week I thought I would take you on a journey. A journey of the “top blogs” of the Wikio Parent Blog ranking. I know, ranking, schmanking, right? In the grand scheme of life, rankings rank very low, truly. But it is one way to find some rather delightful bloggers who have figured “it” out. IT being how to write to move people, how to engage with their readers, how to tick the right boxes.

Many of these bloggers have been around for a while so maybe are not on your usual reading rota. So have a read of some of the wonderful posts from these top bloggers. Next week, we’ll be starting from the other end of the stick because there are some mighty brilliant bloggers out there who haven’t quite made their way up the rankings yet. Enjoy this week’s BritMums Good Reads:

  • We all know Tara Cain as the creator of The Gallery right? Well, did you know she’s been channeling Nigella and sharing the Best Biscuits for Making with Children? There’s still time in the school holidays to give these a go so what are you waiting for?
  • The amazingly crafty Maggy of Red Ted Art has some fab crafts to get you and your family prepared for BACK TO SCHOOL! What would we do without you Maggy?
  • The Madhouse Family Reviews always keeps us up to date on the latest, greatest products and whether we need them or not. Check out the post on Foraged Recipes for your next outing into the countryside!
  • Kate Takes 5 has been lighting up the imagination of bloggers everywhere with her Listography Challenges each week. This week it’s time for your 5 Guilty Pleasures! Now, someone tell me the difference between guilty and embarrassing!
  • Over at Thinly Spread, the kind and generous Christine has a special treat with Picnic Time! Enter by Thursday 18 August to be in with a chance to win an Innocent Picnic hamper.
  • Michelle at Mummy From the Heart takes us on a rather clever journey with Short N Tweet Journey of a Blog. We’re always keen on a new writing challenge; especially ones that have pretty badges!
  • Baby Budgeting always has some wonderful ideas for saving money and having fun. Crafty Cards is the perfect example of this. Again, you’ve still got a couple of weeks before school starts to get these sorted!
  • Nickie at I am Typecast always keeps us on our toes and finds a way to get straight to the heart of the issue. Check out this fabulous post about Annoying Twitter Habits! We’re very much with you on Funny Girl in particular! Lol!
  • Mirka at All Baby Advice has MOVED! She’s now on her very own self-hosted domain! Congrats on the move Mirka! While you’re there, check out Mirka’s review of The Starting School Survival Guide.
  • Back in the day, Josie at Sleep is for the Weak, started the whole “linky” trend with her weekly Writing Workshop. Have a look at Josie’s prompts for this week, Gifts, and give it a whirl. It’s a wonderful exercise to get the creative juices flowing.
  • We’d also like to point out one blogger who is in need of your support and well-wishes this week- have a visit to Mammy Woo and show her a bit of love. We’re here for you Lexy!

Enjoy this week’s reading material and just keep blogging!
