BritMums Foodie Round-up

Happy Easter everyone, I’m sure there’s still a little chocolate in the house, there certainly is in mine and I know it’ll be hanging around for a while to come, I mean there’s a limit to how much chocolate one can eat right?

This Foodie Round Up is dedicated to the Bib nominations as we now have a shortlist of 20 excellent food blogs but who to give your vote to?

In reverse alphabetical order here is a short summary of each blog

What Would Nigella Do? written by Sarah Miles who says I love cooking, but cooking does not always love me. I attribute my love of cooking to Nigella Lawson. An icon of fabulousness, Nigella inspired me to cook, eat and enjoy. In times of cooking crisis I have to ask myself – What would Nigella do?

We’ve mentioned Utterly Scrummy here before on the Foodie Round Up. Michelle Rice writes a helpful weekly meal plan including recipes, shopping list and tips for hungry families.

The Lazy Girl’s Guide to Cooking is a great place to land on when you need a good recipe in a hurry. I was so thankful to see her recipe for Lasgana uses jars which I have used when expecting a lot of people over and need a good meal on the table without spending the whole day in the kitchen.

Nelly’s Cupcakes is more than just cupcakes although they do play an important role in her blog. She has met Mary Berry and takes part in the Clandestine Cake Club too!

My Daddy Cooks is no stranger to Brit Mums, Nick Coffer now has videos and books to his name and is a constant source of inspiration to parents up and down the country

Alice Harold writes More Than Toast and says ‘More Than Toast is so-called because that’s all I ate after my baby girl was born. She’s now 19 months and we’ve both almost graduated to real grown-up food. That’s one of the things I like to blog about here, as well as my family, my style, my life, and baby number two who is expected in May.’

Mamacook is a great food blog which has a fabulous section on food for babies and toddlers with some really good recipes.

Sarah Trivuncic’s Maison Cupcake has already been mentioned on a Foodie Round Up too and with good reason, self taught and passionate about baking she is very excited at her book Bake Me I’m Yours: Sweet Bitesize Bakes (David & Charles) coming out in June 2012 and so are we!

Karen Booth writes Lavender and Lovage another personal favourite of mine and is a member of the Clandestine Cake club which sounds so exciting. A recipe developer, photographer and all round good egg, Karen is one of the hosts of the monthly challenge Tea Time Treats.

Jessie’s Crazy Kitchen is a mixture of cooking, cakes, children, craft and fun she also reviews products and has a fab competition to win a vacuum cleaner on now!

Beth Sachs writes Jam and Clotted Cream and I can’t help but salivate when you see her avatar around the blogosphere. Cornish born and bred, rugby mad and a self styled Cornish Foodie.

Have you seen Fleur’s Mini Pistachio and Rose Celebration cake? You must, stacked high high high and wearing the BiB badge too. Her blog Homemade by Fleur is a mixture of recipes, competitions and gorgeous photos too. Check out her cake!

Sian writes Fishfingers For Tea she started as a parent blogger under a different name and has evolved over time to the world of blogging. Another great collection of recipes.

Feeding Boys and a Firefighter written by Katie Bryson, a freelance journalist who keeps the men in her life happy through their tummies AND she shares her secrets with us.

Ren Behan writes Fabulicious Food and has many accolades to her name including Channel 4 Food, Sainsbury’s Money Matters and of course she’s been nominated for a BiB too.

English Mum has been sharing her brilliant recipes, her travels and her growing boys who force her to produce even more healthy and delicious food for ages. I’ve entered a couple of her Bake Offs which are enormous fun and she admits she’s not perfect but I think she probably is and doesn’t want to boast about it.

Eat Like a Girl never ceases to fascinate me, have you seen her recent Scotch egg post? Niam says ‘I love to travel, eat & cook. I especially love cooking new things inspired by my travels. If I am not eating, I am planning my next meal. If I am not talking about food, I am cooking it.’

Kelly Innes writes Domestic Goddesque and I’ve been hooked for a long time, her photography is stunning and her girls are even more breathtaking – two blonde heartbreakers in the making, LBG (Little Big Girl) and the Dimpled Assassin who inspire DG to wonderful creations in the kitchen, with craft and with her camera.

Dad’s Cooking Tonight is a new foodie blog for me. I read that Andy Grant is dad to FIVE hungry children hence why he’s frequently found in the kitchen! He says ‘I’m a recent history graduate, as a mature student, and am enthusiastic about the seaside and motor sport, which may explain some of the other ramblings that appear on my blog from time to time.’

Crumbs is written by two sisters whom I have had the pleasure of meeting. They write ‘Since having children we spend less time choosing between sushi or salami and more time scraping porridge off the walls. This blog is a way of inspiring us to cook healthy, tasty, quick meals for our family. We give a two bread-stick salute to long ingredient lists and say helloo to the culinary short cut. Why did we call it crumbs? Because they, like us, are on the floor by 7pm.‘

So tricky decision if you ask me. How are we going to decide on that round up of lushness? I probably haven’t made it any easier for you either, I just hope you have some chocolate to munch on whilst you ponder who you’re going to vote for…
