BritMums Foodie Round-up

BritMums Foodie Round-up

All of us at some point have to go into the kitchen and prepare something to eat for ourselves, for our children for our guests and that’s where the Foodie Roundup comes in to your life.

I shall showcase a Foodie Roundup including well established blogs to inspire us, new blogs that have caught my eye, blogs with monthly challenges that you might like to have a go at and bloggers with weekly food links.

There is a brand new group on Brit Mums called Food Bloggers and we invite everyone to join and post competitions, reviews, discussions challenges and anything food related you’d like to share.

Kicking off my first round up is one of our Brit Mum members, Sarah Trivuncic who has been writing at Maison Cupcake since July 2009. She blogs about baking, desserts and party food recipes, kid friendly restaurant reviews, family days out and travel. Sarah tops the Wikio charts and runs a blogging event called Forever Nigella which is currently undergoing a major transformation so keep an eye out for news coming soon.

Another lady gracing the top of the Wikio Gastronomy charts is Helen at Fuss Free Flavours she says on her About Me page ‘I am not a chefy cook, the simpler fuss free approach works best for me.’ and that’s my kind of style too. Her blog has evolved into mainly vegan recipes as she has discovered feeling far healthier by eating a primarily plant based diet. Helen also co hosts the Presto Pasta Night where she invites everyone to link up with a pasta recipe.

How could I ignore a blog entitled Goddess on a Budget? After all aren’t we all? Vanessa Kimball, an extraordinary lady has even written her own cookery book Prepped and her blog is pure delight to feast your eyes on, I adore her About Page, her photography and her bubbly character that shines through every post. Very inspiring and half Italian too!

Jacqueline Meldrum, a Scottish vegetarian, writes at Tinned Tomatoes where you can find family friendly recipes, drool-worthy photos and a pinch of good humour too.

The Pink Whisk was born in 2010 after Ruth Clemens came second in The Great British Bake Off much to her very own surprise! Taking part in the program has launched a brand new career for Ruth working with major brands on baking related projects, writing and teaching too. In fact her blog has tutorials as well as fabulous baking recipes.

I’ve just clicked on Lavendar and Lovage to get some info for you and I’ve fallen in love with Karen’s Ploughman’s Lunch, I need one NOW. Karen Booth is a creative freelance food writer with a passion for local and seasonal produce. Now here’s a blog I want landing in my inbox daily. Karen hosts the Tea Time Treats link up along with Kate from What Kate Baked and each month a different theme or ingredient is announced to inspire you to get creative. January’s theme is Sweet Pastries and Breads if you’d like to join in. I am!

I have quite a few ‘Foodie’s’ in my family and they love to receive gifts for their passion too so bumping into Helen Tarver at the Bite N Write food blogging event was the perfect solution to finding a present. The Foodie Gift Hunter is the place to bookmark and refer to for inside knowledge on books, gadgets and anything foodie related.

A glass of wine is my treat when I feel I’ve been a good girl and here’s a lady who has her finger on the wine world pulse. Helen McGins job was to travel the world and taste wine for a top supermarket (why didn’t I think of that one?) then she had children and started to share her knowledge with the us all via Knackered Mother’s Wine Club if you’d like to know what’s good out there on the shelves she can tell you.

Another fabulous monthly challenge that might be of interest to you is One Ingredient (sounds simple enough) held at Working London Mummy. I have hunted high and low for this lovely ladies name and I can’t find it but I can tell you she’s a paediatrician and mummy to beautiful Miss Munchkin. She will give you One Ingredient and ask you to come back with a recipe. She also has some fabulous recipes perfect for fussy toddlers like mine!

I’m finishing off with a man who thanks to redundancy in July last year found himself at home housedad to three children whilst his wife went out to work. He writes at Chronicles of a Reluctant Housedad and holds a weekly Recipe Shed link up for cooks around the blogoshpere. We’ve been talking vlogging tips this week so you can expect to see a lot of video from him soon if his ‘How To Iron a Shirt in 45 second’s is anything to go by!

Get in the kitchen and have some fun and link up to my Foodie Friday to show the world what you’ve done I can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to.

Have you written about food this week? Add your post to the linky below so we can check it out.
